"Time" Reminds me of 'Love thy will be done". Anyone else?

it's not like any other song i can think of. it's a prince original IMO, which seems a rarity in this brand new age of prince re-cycling other artists riffs, titles, melodies etc. PS I think 'About Time' would of been a better title (bit more original as Sly has a song called Time).

I kind of like it, and yet it also kind of bores me

Best song on the album. I also thought of Love..thy will Be done. This song is up their with his very best, this is an upper echelon groove.

I agree. It has a similar laid-back but driving beat.

boring and annoying, especially because of that female voice

I love it.
It might make a good single if he dare edit it. 7 min is a bit too long for radio. Its accessible, meaningful, insightful, and easily transferable. Its not one of those 'billy sparks it only means summin to prince' tracks. In this harried world as described in clouds...we could all use more time to achieve whatever with...including a roll in the hay with a cute sounding girl wary of your motives and making u spend your time to get it. It actually reminds me a lot of this: https://www.youtube.com/w...ppAPO-DIHo

The more I listen to it the more I like it. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

Love it, the "half my age" line was on point and shed light on how he's living. Not a single though. The single is Anotherlove, the R&B single is This should be us.

I really loved what you wrote about this song on some other thread, especially your attention to details. It´s a very enjoyable read and I agree 100% with what you wrote there and here. As far as I´m concerned, this song could even be much longer...especially with that topic and title, but I understand that it would be even less radiofriendly then than it already is. However, he did write some long, long songs for the 1999 album, and I still enjoy those long songs. Wonder if they used to play them in their entirety back in those days. Again, really really loved your review of this song. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I like to listen to it on the headphones, but on the regular stereo it sounds a bit boring/drawn out to me. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Its so subtle, yet out there. Immensely quiet while reservedly loud. Equally revealing and secretive. No more games with age...clearly addresses it and owns it. And all while literally phoning it in. Those bass licks own me and oddly a track named Time clocking in at almost 7 minutes has yet to be long enough. Those synth-horns come to early EVERY time.
Still my favorite track too. A new classic for me...is how they say. [Edited 10/2/14 11:19am]
