Pseudonym albums

Just a comment, by no means a criticism! In the 80's and 90's our boy seemed to want to release his edgier, funkier stuff under alternative names - think The Time, New Power Generation, and his mainstream music (pop/rock) under his own name. Then this week we see the funk released as Prince - AOA, and the rock and cheesy pop released as 3rd EG. Wonder why the change...

I see your point. The Time was also a way of still having a more traditional outlet for R&B/funk whilst Prince went more magpie on his own releases, so maybe PE is more akin to that than 'rock and cheesy pop' or playing it safe.

.

There's a nice enough spoonful of cheesy pop and genre chasing on AOA too, and in today's market maybe pop/R&B is the safe choice to appeal to a wider/younger audience rather than rock/pop of PE. And you have odd/whimsical moments on PE like TicTacToe or Boy Trouble, so it cuts both ways really, I think they're a nice pair of records and a much more successful and balanced attempt at a similar idea than Loutsflow3r and MPLSound.
