Groovy Potential BELONGS on AoA Ok, i try not to one of those 'shoulda woulda coulda' folks but man, GP downright BELONGS on AoA!! Just like the lasers on Brkdwn make sense now, as well as well as the chipmunk voice on BCW, the production on GP, BEGS for its inclusion. Not sure if it should ra eplace TIWIFL or just be an additional trak but this is the disc it belongs on!!

It has no place on AOA IMO, its a great track but doesn't fit with the digitally produced concept of the album, it will fit in with the NPG album

I can never make it through that horrible title track and always skip it, and I think including Groovy Potential instead of Art Offical Cage would´ve made the album much better. Then again, it would have no title song then. What It Feels Like is a song I really like, it has a very mellow vibe. Get rid of the title song or FunkNRoll instead. Or The Gold Standard ( I know folks here love that song but to me it sounds reminiscent of 1+1=3 or whatever that was called......take some funky, 80s Prince staple elements and hide a conservative message behind them....I don´t mind the message but it just doesn´t mesh well with that kind of music in my opinion). Why do you dislike What It Feels Like so much that you ´d prefer an album without it? My only problem with that song is that there´s already another beautiful song out there with the very same title by Banks. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Groovy Potential as the lead track would have made no sense with the concept of AOA. AOC sets the scene for the whole album: Prince being constrained and frustrated with the modern age and it's lack of anonymity. He craves the future where the mind creates its own joy within itself, where moments are experienced and meaningful and fleeting...which leads seamlessly into the theme of Clouds. Groovy Potential musically is a band number. It's a good tune, bit weak in the melody and chorus but great when it jams. don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

Oh, I absolutely understand that and agree with you. It´s just that I dislike AOC so much and prefer Groovy Potential as a song, even though that song has a silly. AOC may be a good way to kick off the album but still.....I find that song so horrible. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! The spoken parts are delivered with an attitude closer to Do Yourself A Favour than 1+1+1=3. I love it. What It Feels Like is a grower in the same way that something like Girl was back in the day. don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

doesn't fit. I keep trying with this one and a few others. Maybe between Way Back Home and Time, but only if you move Funk 'n Roll.

TOTALLY agree. His delivery of "aye, aye, aye " has a contemporary flavor and the twists of the song especially towards the end would made it nice fit somewhere on AOA. Gold Standard is Prince by numbers even though i love how it goes into u know

just to be clear, i wasn't suggesting that it open the album or replace the title track by any means. AoA opens the album nicely and sets the tone, again, it makes the lasers and voice distortions make sense, and the vocals on GP have some of that going on. Its kind of quirky, like the album, but with some real musicianship going on, esp at the end like we all have said. i so wish, somebody in his "inner circle" would've been like DUDE.... where's GP on this track list. i'd put it after the Gold Standard but still thin

I love Groovy Potential, but it is better suited for a different album, perhaps that horns heavy album we know Prince has waiting for us on standby.
On a different note, I just added Menstrual Cycle to Plectrum, fits perfectly. [Edited 9/30/14 23:09pm] "You always get the dream that you deserve, from what you value the most" -Prince 2013
