Which Funknroll?

I've loved this song since I first heard it live in February. The AOA version of it has grown on me and it works in the context of the album, but I still think the PE version is better. What do you all think?

PE versions, no contest to me. The AOA version is aweful!! I think that version may be the worst Prince song I have ever heard and he has some really bad songs on that list!!

AOA version. PE version is nice enough, but something we've heard from him a lot. It's a bit lifeless. I'd probably love it if the AOA version didn't exist. AOA version is something different for him and has an energy to it missing from the PE version.

I love it as much as I love "Days o Wild" it's spectacular. What we need is a bad ass live version of this TBR!

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

Everyone here tore apart the AOA version from day one, from day one I have personally thought the AOA version is much better, and I still do.

It took me a while to get into the AOA version when it was first released. It just seemed messy and weird. But it works so well in the context of the album. I love it now.

The PE version is also excellent. But I enjoy AOA more.

Honestly can't get enough of either. If I had to choose I would pick AOA just because it has the Prince "weirdness", but they are both awesome.

PE, definitely. It's SOTT era stuff stylistically with a modern rock recording vibe added.

The AOA version is clumsy and distasteful. I don't mind it so much in the context of the rest of the album, but I try not to listen to it too closely, because I'm really bothered by the cut'n'paste nature of its production (it is done by Joshua Welton, as confirmed by him on Twitter). Regardless, the song itself is just so cool that I'm not surprised Prince wanted it on both albums.

The PE version, also after hearing it live in February. I guess the remix fits well on AOA so it's good to have 2 versions

PE version for me, probably because I loved it when I heard it live

The remixed version is very messy

Both are good in their own unique way, both have some elements that the other one doesn't have. Which makes them both individually great. Obviously, the AOA version is geared towards his more R&B oriented fans, and the PE version for those more rock oriented. For those who like both genres of music, we dig both equally!

Too bad, a really good Camille track, but still sounds unfinished either way.

Art Official Cage and the Funknroll AOA-remix version are the two worst songs of prince's entire career. Horrible. Worse than 1999 The New Master, Jughead and Purple and Gold combined. The PE version is cool.

And please stop that rock oriented fans versus rnb oriented fans bullshit. Not again. I like both styles and love most of prince's rnb stuff. I simply think that these new tracks are total rubbish.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that the AOA version is bad, it is structurally and musically different from what anything expected of Prince. It is a mesh of R&B/hip hop(very low bass), techno, rock!

This version will appeal to a lot of young people.

Definitely PE version. Do not like the remix style on AOA one bit, although I think it is great for the young people to dance to in clubs.

Hearing the song live is the best, though!

Probably because Prince didn't do it himself.

PE by far. The AOA version is just typical "try to appeal to young people" routine without doing anything original. The song itself is good enough as it was.

AOA-version

The final part of the song is one of the highlights of the album.
