Am pleased to see no Rave on your list, Joe. Very underrated imo.

Bad Prince albums?

Musicology - very bland

3121 - wasn't much better, all gloss and little substance

Diamonds & Pearls - dated horribly. The only song which I can listen to in 2014 without cringing is Money Don't Matter 2night.

Batman - give me the first two tracks and you can keep the rest

I don't think Art Official Age is bad, if only for Breakdown, The Gold Standard and Funknroll remix - all of which are brilliant. But there's a lot of filler, particularly on the second half of the disc.

Never did understand why so many fans dislike Planet Earth. To me, that album was a huge improvement on 3121 and Musicology.

whatever JoeTyler is in a minority, the majority loves the album, that's what I think at least.

And: Art Official Age is the greatest album since The Rainbow Children.

But there will always be some nay sayers no matter what, no matter how excellent.

Oh yeah, well Colours are stupid & overrated & only stupid people like them.

Planet Earth gave me a real hard time at first but now there are songs I got to really, REALLY love on it, and most the rest more or less grew on me eventually. But it's the only album that I really didn't like at first, out of all of them!

I consider Carmen Electra and Child Of The Sun to be really weak efforts overall, but once again they have great moments too and most of the rest grew on me with time, but I think objectively they had too many flaws to be considered good artistic achievements.

Kamasutra suffers from a lack of knowledge by its author from contemporary "classical" and ambient music and it feels. I actually loved it at first, then over the years I got interested in contemporary, experimental and ambient and realized that by comparison to the greats in those genres, Kamasutra sounded like a cartoonish caricature of classical music. Nonetheless I keep a tenderness for it because I used to love it, and I respect a lot the fact that tried something different and dared releasing it instead of leaving it to rot in the vault, but overall I think it was a failed experiment.

Oh, and I really can't stand that unreleased Margie Cox album, but it's unreleased anyway

Apart from that I think that's pretty much it, there are no albums that I consider to be bad. I like some better than some others, but "bad" is too strong a word to describe any of them. I mean when I think of what I consider "bad" albums, nothing ever did comes anywhere close to that

all of these albums I've either gave away or thrown away.

I think that Prince was amazing from "FOR YOU" all the way to the BATMAN soundtrack. I loved LOVESEXY, SOTT, and the BLACK album.


I don't really care for any album after. I did like some SELECT songs but not all the songs off of later albums. I think that while Prince is entitled to grow into the artist that he is becoming now, I just don't care for his music now.

There are things that I don't really like about the man nowadays. But I will just say: I appreciated living in the days of amazingly good music and Prince was a game changer/innovator.

Emancipation is in its own leage in this respect. The first time in my life I doubted him and hated an album. So bland and awful as to defy belief, especially coming off such a fantastic run to that point with Gold, Exodus, Undertaker etc. He was on top form and then put that rubbish out.

Rainbow Children, Lotus and now PE are the only non bad albums he's released in an eternity in my opinion.

Kamasutra is actually a guilty pleasure even though I know it's pretty crappy as far as classical music goes

hard to say. there are songs I like on all of them. but as complete albums, these are the ones that I think either needed more work or he should have just waited and combined the good half with the good half of the next half-assed album. but there aren't any that I don't enjoy listening to to some extent.

There's no solid info regarding recording dates but I don't think so: reportedly had the idea of Planet Earth after a TV per4mance of Fury that he liked so much that he decided to record a whole album in that vibe (the "light rock" thing), so obviously most if not all the songs were recorded after the release of 3121.

How someone can include For You...I just...
