The Inevitable AOA/PE Combined Tracklist Thread You knew it was coming
As usual, he's got the goods, but needs an editor - this would've made a classic single album but as 2, there's too much filler. Here's my take - what's yours?
Funknroll (PE version) Clouds The Gold Standard U Know WOW Breakdown Breakfast Can Wait Time Anotherlove Way Back Home (best song he's done in 20 years at least)

Leave AOA alone and make a nice EP of PE with the Prince vocal tracks. RIP

TheEnglishGent said: Leave AOA alone and make a nice EP of PE with the Prince vocal tracks. Yes. And add Screwdriver, Groovy Potential, and maybe RNRLA to that EP. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

AOA in its current form doesn't really have enough variety - without a few live instrument bangers, it's just too cold and mechanical. Gets a "B" from me as is, but this order would push it into A territory.
PE is mostly a dud with a few keepers. [Edited 9/25/14 13:32pm]

i just posted this in the AOA thread: / all i can say is that i love it and if it were up to me i would change only one thing: add "Ain't Gonna Miss U When Ur Gone" to it. the wav file we got is terrific sound quality and fits pretty much seamlessly on here. . i've tried putting it after "This Could B Us" and it works perfectly for me. after the whole "you don't want me no more..." ending of TCBU, this is the perfect song, thematically as well. and with all the weird vocal effects it just sounds right amongst all those other vocoder/pitch shifts etc. . what's more, it lifts the album up a bit and breaks up the slow middle part of the album. no idea why he didn't include it. it's a strong track. perhaps to keep the album from becoming too long? . 01. Art Official Cage 02. Clouds 03. Breakdown 04. The Gold Standard 05. U Know 06. Breakfast Can Wait 07. This Could B Us 08. Ain't Gonna Miss U (When Ur Gone) 09. What It Feels Like 10. Affirmation I & II 12. Funk N Roll 13. Time 14. Affirmation III / that's as far as AOA is concerned. since it's such a good album and since PlectrumElectrum has such a different sound, i don't think you'd be able to get a good album with any configuration of combined songs from both. / my PlectrumElectrum now looks like this: 01. Wow 02. Screwdriver 03. Anotherlove 04. TicTacToe 05. Marz 06. FunkNRoll . you can probably tell which album out of the two i like best i might still ditch Marz from it because the opening verse gets on my nerves. it was way cooler the way it was delivered in .

Having listened to both albums a few times now, I think this is how I would put them onto a single disc, if we lived in the 90s when disc length was an issue Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

You could make endless playlists with these albums. And anything from the past 2 (or 10) years. *Wow (Art Official Cage is stupid beyond words. It barely exists as it is. Wow is a way better opener and works just as well with the context/concept of AOA.) Clouds Funknroll [Remix] (better than the original on PE, and feels out of place in the actual running order) The Gold Standard U Know *Fall In Love 2 Nite (I liked Breakfast Can Wait, and I still do, but at this point, it's so old and familiar that it feels like dead weight on this album. I feel like he already milked this one as far as it was going to go and I kind of resent buying it for the 5th, 6th, 7th, or whatever time, instead of it being counted as already purchased. Plus this section could use another upbeat track.) This Could Be Us *Another Love What It Feels Like Breakdown (again, feels really out of place in the actual running order - also helps with the "concept" better in this section. could also come between Way Back Home & Time) Affirmation I & II Way Back Home Time Affirmtion III [Edited 9/25/14 18:24pm]

That's interesting -- for me, Ain't Gonna Miss U is a perfect example of the pre/post-Josh influence in Prince's music. Before Josh, his one-man band funk tracks (as opposed to something like Groovy Potential) were pretty much lacking anything in the way of drive, energy or focus. After Josh came aboard, things improved markedly.
PLEASE NOTE: I'm not trying to give Josh credit for how good AOA is, but I think his relative mastery of modern production and his younger ears have been very good for Prince. In essence, it appears that he is exactly what many of us have been hoping for for a long time now - someone who challenges and focuses Prince in the studio.
In case it's not clear -- I'm a huge fan of AOA. It's not perfect, but it's his best album since The Gold Experience, I think.

I would keep PE as is. No need to mess with it.

My current playlist that makes me happy is .. .
ART OFFICIAL CAGE FUNK N ROLL AOA MIX ROCKNROLL LOVE AFFAIR JL STRIPPED DOWN MIX U KNOW THAT GIRL THING THE BREAKDOWN AINT GONNA MISS U JUNGLE MIX DANCE 4 ME DA ICON MIX WAY BACK HOME TIME AFFRMATION III
. there are a few minor flaws but this configuration would have been a much more solid record and would have likely been critically praised .. i think way back home could be the new purple rain if he extended it out pr style .. i dont like most of what he relased between PE and AOA but this little mix does it for me .. and it still feals like it has a theme .. no filler all killer ..

It isn't inevitable but u morons are gonna make it inevitable. They are 2 separate projects 4 a reason. 2 logical people, it makes no sense 2 combine them but the org is full of mutants. THIS THREAD IS SO DUMB. lol

What is wrong with some people around here lately - you can't express an opinion without someone calling you a mutant?
And also - thanks for the bump! [Edited 9/28/14 16:17pm]

1. Art Official Cage 2. Rock and Roll Love Affair (Extended version) 3. Anotherlove 4. Plectrumelectrum 5. Breakdown 6. The Gold Standard 7. This Could Be Us 8. Tictactoe 9. Groovy Potential 10. Time 11. FunknRoll (AOA-version) 12. Marz 13. Affirmation I & II 14. Way Back Home 15. Affirmation III
This, including two 'older' 3rdeyegirl-era songs, would make a killer and versatile Prince-album. I'd like to see AOA as a whole though.

There's barely enough material for one good album, let alone two. Having said that, I think I would quite enjoy this as an album:
1. Wow 2. Pretzelbodylogic 3. Art Official Cage 4. Plectrum Electrum 5. The Breakdown 6. The Gold Standard 7. Stopthistrain 8. Screwdriver 9. Affirmation I and II 10. Way Back Home 11. Anotherlove 12. Marz 13. Funk N Roll (PE verision) 14. Affirmation III [Edited 9/30/14 4:42am]
