I think some people are conditioned to like certain things when they are starved from it for a long while. Like your Ma can make you a shit sandwich because you have been out in the desert for a long time, and you had no food and no water and you're starving and you are hungry, you are absolutely hungry and your ma gives you this steaming hot shit sandwich and it becomes the most important thing, the most satisfying thing ever because you are so hungry for it.
