I must say that I don't understand this release strategy at all, I mean, what's the point in some countries having it before others? Surely that just encourages those who live in the places where it's being released later to pirate it?

I think it's just down to traditional release days. For some reason the US has always been a Tuesday I believe. Here in the UK Monday is normal for music releases. Maybe it depends on when the charts are compiled? In the UK the charts are always done on a Sunday, so releasing on Monday maximises the potential chart impact.

America should just be pleased it's getting released at all after not getting 20Ten.

Prince probably reads the org and has decided that the majority here are American, therefore deducing that most of those negative towards him are American, consequently deciding to give the candy to the rest of the world first.

But as you maybe know, the only reason is that in germany the release date is friday as in the UK monday and in the US tuesday...There was a discussion recently in billboard magazine about changing the release globally to friday worldwide...

Spot on this will be the reason, different countries have different main release days

It#s not a specific release strategy. Albums get released at fridays. That's all.
