Two covers for The Gold Experience...

I was checkin out my Letterman clip of Prince performing Dolphin. At one point, Letterman holds a copy of The Gold Experience CD up for the cameras.

The copy that Letterman is holding is a metallic finish. But the actual copy that made its way to the record bin was a baby-shit flat yellow. Do you think this album cover was originally intended to be pressed in a metallic surface?

I think mine is metallic.

The Gold Experience was originally going to be printed on
metallic paper, but by the time it was released they just
printed it on ordinary paper.

There were a few promo copies made by Prince on metallic
paper in 1994 during the time Prince was in dispute with
WB over the release of the album. These metallic versions
also included Days Of Wild, and it's believed that none
of them made it into the collectors market.

I know of one that made to a collector. A friend of mine in Pittsburgh has one. I saw it in '97. It's printed on a very fragile gold foil paper. Actually more like gold leaf. You are right, it did have the lyrics for "Days Of Wild" printed in it.

Did this version have the 4-minute or 6-minute version of DOW?
