Attempting to compile a rock/blues CD for newbie.....help

When i say rock, don't think hardcore rock, that's for a later CD, i'm talking rockier blues like The Ride and then more traditional blues like Xosphere or If Eye Had a Herem.

Can you compile some suggestions for me LIVE or studio with tracks more geared towards the traditional blues. Just note that it can't be things like Beggin' Woman Blues from Indigo Nights because it doesn't match the rocky flow of tracks like The Ride.

Thanks.

Instead of a compilation, I'd simply give that person a copy of The Undertaker, or maybe The War or Lotusflow3r. I believe the natural flow and cohesiveness of an artist-made album is usually better than a fanmade comp.

I don't think he's done much in terms of traditional blues tbh. I'd go with something like..

5 Women

Calhoon Square

Johnny

Somebodys Somebody (live studio)

Honky Tonk Woman

The Ride

Let's Go Grazy Reloaded.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Don't Play Me (webby awards)

Johnny B Goode Live (superbowl)

All Along the Watchtower/Best Of You

Octopus Heart

Plectrum Electrum.

My favorite blues songs by Prince are :

-

The Undertaker (the video version)

The Ride (from the Undertaker video)

If I Had A Harem (live version from the Lovesexy Dortmund show)

Was It My Face? ( absolutely love this one)

Five Women ( the old version, but I like the released version, too)

I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man (the version he played in 2002 at Paisley Park and during the ONA tour)

Something In The Water (the 1984 rehearsal version, 13 minutes long!)

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Peach?

Peach is all blues in structure. Listen to the opening riff! Live, 'screamier' versions definitely bring the blues out.

True, but I was trying to be different rather than using the same 10 songs.

nod that's the one I was going to say. A one time bluesy improvisation at a

1987 club aftershow. LOVE it!
