Loving the new tunes

I am actually getting sick of the negativity towards the new material. Everything I've heard so far off these records sounds really good to me and gets better with every listen.. I think Prince is still making fantastic music... Who's with me?

I especially want to co-sign your post for the Art Official Age tracks. That album is shaping up to be a monster for me. I love everything we've heard from it so far!

I agree and feel the same.

I've been listening to Prince and have been a follower of him and his music since 1981 when Controversy was released and have been on an incredible ride ever since. He has not let me down once with his music and art. I absolutely love everything he has released and respect the magic, imagination, variety of his music especially the new material!

I can not seem to get enough of "Clouds" and "FUNKNROLL"! They are instant classics for me. I only wish the pop gem "Rock and Roll Love Affair" was on the new album.

September 30th can not come soon enough!

Man is crushing it. FunkNRoll is THE JAM. So are CLOUDS, Breakfast Can Wait AND U Know.

To each his and her own, I guess, but how anyone cannot see/hear these as gems is beyond me.

All Love.

Clouds already sounds like a Prince classic to me.

The other two songs are still under the microscope, I am not prone to call any new work a classic. I think he has finally absorbed a modern vibe and put his stamp on it. I like the message and love that it's so subtly soulful.

YES! AOA is already a classic just based on the songs we've already heard

Each song is on constant repeat!

There's a lot of positivity out there towards the new tracks, it just gets drowned here. In fact, this is probably the best public response to new Prince music in over 15 years.

I've seen a surprising amount of positive remarks to the new material, even on here. And when I say surprising, I mean in terms of how his previous new material has been received here. I've been a grumbler myself but I still have not listened enough to have a proper opinion yet. Glad I haven't listned to the new stuff loads yet as it'll still be fresh when the album gets here.

And speaking of the albums getting here, where the hell are the leaks? It releases in places in Europe on Friday and still nothing. I think this may be a new record for a Prince release. I wonder what time the digital releases will be made available on the 29th?

RIP sad

I really enjoyed 3121 and LotusFlow3r. I am not just some hater.
The new songs have all been incredibly disappointing to me, aside from The Breakdown and Clouds. They are mostly tuneless and hookless. I wish Prince songs would stick with me more these days. Maybe I've changed, and his music's still mostly the same but I don't think so.

i think this whole site needs an overhaul. each new topic show have the word positive o negative in parenthesis. we can take the way we communicate. that seems to be the only way for this site to evolve. otherwise its in the toilet. im just waiting for the first mf to claim i am against people giving their opinion! haha! pleeeeease!

Thanks for all your responses... Great to see some positivity... Lots of people been getting + signs from the new stuff.. I have to say The Breakdown really does improve with every listen and really is a masterpiece composition.. He's still got it! Only 6 days to go now in the UK!

I thought hating Prince's new tunes was what Prince.org was for?

Rebeljuice

I think the org is divided simply because AOA is Prince being somewhat contemporary and we are mainly a bunch of 40-something year olds who tend to steer clear of that kind of stuff in general.

But I like the AOA stuff so far and am looking forward to the album. It sounds like Prince is using studio trickery and modern techniques (whilst applying his own stamp) in the same vein as he did on 1999.

PE sounds like it will be a more straight forward album and will be a welcome, yet opposing, listen.

And if the rumours about an October release of a new NPG album are true, then reallly there can't be much wiggle room left for anyone to complain on the org (although some always will).

But for me so far, AOA is the album im really chomping at the bit to get my hands on and PE is something I am simply looking forward to listening to.

I am jumping on this one.

Fan since 81 and these are the strongest tracks we have had since he left Warners.

Back with them now and we are back on track.

Love it.
