I remember when Mel was interviewed by Chris Evans for TFI Friday (or perhaps his radio breakfast show) She didn't have much nice to say about Prince

"Mad Sex" from NPS - I'm not sure about the dates but I think this song was written about her?

The song on a first listen sounds upbeat and with a title like Mad Sex... The lyrics don't sound very complimentary though, and some lines are almost delivered with a mocking tone.

3 questions:

1) Were the two ever romantically linked (only asking because of the song) - She is never mentioned as being connected to him so I'd guess not.

2) Did they work on any music together - Prince doesn't seem the type to have a Spice Girl (when they were popular) at Pasley Park and not get her into a studio to do something.

3) Did he really think she was from London? Or was this just a Princely lyric - done deliberately as a fuck you.

I only ask since Mel B is back on X-Factor. 3EG are in London again which seems to indicate Prince will be there soon...

I think the speculation about the lyric is a good guess. I also think the only reason Prince got her for the Beautiful Strange interview was because Spice Girls were big at the time and she was the only black member of the group if that makes sense. Who was he going to pick Emma Bunton? Nah.

All speculation of course. Although in terms of the lyrical connection... It's kind of an F-you song? A bushy haired mulatto English girl who talks about all the sex she's had.

The interview must have been 97ish - quiet year. Beautiful Strange was a fairly big concept and with Mel B seemingly getting a front cover billing on the VHS (going from the jpg on PV).

SPECULATION: I did wonder if their apparent falling out was what caused the Beautiful Strange album to fall through. - . Or if I was being incredibly cynical perhaps that their falling out caused the release of the VHS - to cash in on the Spice Girls - or at least associate himself with them. - But i'm making that up and have literally no basis for any of it other than their paths crossing on a timeline.

What I get out of being said here is Mel B is not his type because she's too loud and outspoken (and she is ). Prince appears to like very beautiful, but quiet type of girls, not Prince being a Barbie doll.
