We know Prince isn't fond of his songs being covered so he's probably paying them to make sure no on there is putting stuff out without his consent.

When you go to the ASCAP database, his songs are affiliated with ASCAP, but Prince himself isn't.

Hence the fact I used the term "...I think" thus indicating uncertanty regarding the topic being discussed.

Your failure to comprehend the point rather than fixating on details aside - as I was saying. His music isn't often used outside the "Prince" brand. So I'll be interesting to see what happens with this deal over time. ie is Prince ready to cash in on his old music.
