Ways Prince connects to...Stanley Kubrick?! I kind of came up with this little list a few years back, & I thought I'd share it with y'all on here. ^_^
*Prince wrote "Song Of The Heart" for the end credits of "Happy Feet", which featured a character played by Nicole Kidman, who starred in "Eyes Wide Shut", the last film ever made by Stanley Kubrick.
*Prince wrote the songs for "Batman", in which the Joker was played by Jack Nicholson, who starred in Stanley Kubrick's "masterpiece of modern horror" "The Shining". *Prince starred in "Under The Cherry Moon" alongside Steven Berkoff, who played a minor role in Stanley Kubrick's controversial cult classic "A Clockwork Orange". *Incidentally, Prince's major film hit "Purple Rain" was originally going to be given an X rating, but was given an R rating after cuts were made to sexual scenes...much like "Clockwork Orange". *Prince dated Susannah Hoffs, who wrote some of the songs for the movie "Red Roses & Petrol", which features Malcolm McDowell & Aubrey Morris, who starred together in "A Clockwork Orange". *Prince originally penned the song "Manic Monday" for his girl group Apollonia 6, but it ended up being recorded by the Bangles, the lead singer of which is Susannah Hoffs, who wrote some of the songs for the movie "Red Roses & Petrol", etc. *Prince dated Kim Basinger, who starred in the movie "Cool World" directed by Ralph Bakshi, whose cartoon version of "The Lord Of The Rings" had a character played by Philip Stone, who starred in 3 Kubrick films: "A Clockwork Orange", "Barry Lyndon", & "The Shining". *At the 2004 Grammy Awards, Prince performed three of his hit songs with Beyonce Knowles, who played a major role in the remake of "The Pink Panther", the original of which starred Peter Sellers, who starred in not one, but *two*, Kubrick movies: "Dr. Strangelove" (in which he played a triple role!) & "Lolita" (as Claire Quilty). *Prince also starred in "Under The Cherry Moon" alongside Victor Spinetti, who was in the movie "The Magic Christian", which starred Peter Sellers, who starred in "Dr. Strangelove" & "Lolita" *Speaking of "Lolita", Kubrick's movie shares a name with a song from Prince's "3121" album--& although it's not really about the teenage nymphette, it does contain some references to her & the movie (e.g., the "Lolita / sweeta" rhyme). *One of Prince's proteges, Apollonia, shares the name of a character in "The Godfather", which stars Sterling Hayden, who played General Jack D. Ripper in Kubrick's cult-classic "Dr. Strangelove". *During his Earth Tour at London's O2 Arena, Prince performed a song with Elton John, who guest-starred as himself in "The Ryan White Story", which starred George C. Scott, who played General Buck Turgidson in "Dr. Strangelove". *Prince's song "Kiss" was covered by Tom Jones, whose name also happens to be the title of a famous movie, which has a role played by Peter Bull, who also played Ambassador Alexei DeSadeski in "Dr. Strangelove". "One life is all we have, & we live it as we believe in living it. But to sacrifice what you are, & to live without belief...that is a fate more terrible than dying." -- Joan Of Arc

1999 is only two away from 2001. And I don't give two flying fucks what non-connections Prince has with Kubrick. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I enjoyed reading this. To answer the question based on your information Prince had no connection with Prince anymore than I or you had. Here is another one for free I am a fan of both Prince and Stanley Kubrick. I am a the nexus point between to genius'. That really makes my day. Seriously I assume Prince would be a fan of Kubrick and films like Lolita, Eyes Wide Shut, and 2001 for his more philosophic moods. He may have even dug the slightly Christopher Tracey like adventures of Barry Lyndon. Stanley Kubrick was more a classical music fan and may have been aware of Purple Rain the film, or maybe even not then. I think they both had a mutually cold way of treating former work associates, just ask Malcolm Mcdowell. They could have bonded over their at times brutal interpersonal skills.

Kubrick filmed Barry Lyndon after he scrapped plans for a film about Napoleon. Napoleon was short. Prince is short. HOLY FUCKING SHIT. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Actually, in that bootleg rehearsal "Billy's sunglasses" prince asks if they've all seen The Shining then says "Wendy, give me the bat".
And then lately hasn't he used the phrase "eyes wide shut" in lyrics? correction, not lately, that phrase is used in "U Make My Sunshine" [Edited 9/14/14 23:10pm] My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Prince often covered Also sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss live in concert in the last couple of years. Kubrick used it in "2001: A Space odyssey". http://www.princevault.com/index.php/Also_Sprach_Zarathustra

Prince boo boos and Stanley Kubrick boo booed. Prince produced 'A love Bizzare' and Kubrick a produced '2001: A space odyssey'. Both phrases begin with the letter 'A'. They've both also had facial hair at times. To varying degrees, they are both recluses of sorts as well. Prince has worked with cinematographers as well has Kubrick....etc etc etc...

Dr. Strangelove is about the nuclear apocalypse. So's 1999.
Alex (Clockwork Orange) thinks of himself a young Beethoven. Prince obsessed about being a young Mozart.
Eyes Wide Shut is about sssssexxx. So's a good part of Prince's work.
Spartacus wanted to live free of the chains of slavery. So did Prince.
