I don't have this problem of defending Prince to non-fans, because: - I really don't care, or lose sleep over, what other people think - I often have a lower opinion of the music they like than they do of Prince - If they really want to debate, I can prove Prince is better than their favs with science [Edited 9/17/14 7:38am] Don't hate your neighbors. I never understood what a hipster is, I think I just have social issues I thought "Happy" by Pharrell was fun until it was all over the radio and everybody sings it and make videos of it, then I wanted to punch him in the face for even making that song.

But then again, maybe that's because it's a (former) Beatle song!

Prince is still a pretty big live performer. Those are real people filling up venues and spending real money to see him. How come everyone going to see him in concert is having a good time?
I haven't cared about what people said about the music I listen to since high school. I only care if someone's changing music and they're in my home or car and do it without asking.
Of course we're hoping he sells a lot, that's a given we want to see him go #1.

I will never have to defend my tastes in music , be it Prince or anybody else i like and one of the reasons i love Prince music is because not everybody in the world likes him. I like a little bit of weird and different, maybe am strange , who cares , i don;t
