Awesome!! Yes, it was a great show!!! I was front row, last seat facing stage (the handsome Italian guy..LOL) I was surprised that she did so many Nina Simone songs since that was her last album. The group in the middle of the front row had me cracking up when Meshell started singing a tune from Bitter...LOL...They were up like they were in church...LOL. Such a fun evening.
I was with that group! I was in the front row in the first seat by the aisle with my friends directly in front of her. We had such a great time. I yelled out "CHOICES!!!" when I heard the first few notes to the song, and she expressed her gratitude that the new music was getting so much love. But I too was surprised that she played so many Nina Simone songs. The first 5 songs were Nina's (Be My Husband, Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, Real Real, See Line Woman, and 4 Women) which kinda threw me for a loop because I went to Chicago in November 2012 to see her Nina Simone show so when she opened the show with those I was a little scared that it was gonna be all Nina again(although Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, and Real Real are my favorites from that record so it's always a pleasure to hear those live). But overall it was a great show and a fun experience to meet and bond with so many other Meshell fans.
Me'shell is a Goddess with the most capital G ever.
That woman sits not far away from Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Fiona Apple...
Weather is one of the pop albums of the decade.
And boy, does she have culture, and she's clever!
Compared to her, Prince on interview sounds like a lunatic, who invents useless mysteries made of thin air just to impress/control his interlocutor.
The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter
No Child's a failure
Until the Blue Sailboat sails him away from his dreams
Don't Ever Lose, Don't Ever Lose
Don't Ever Lose Your Dreams

I know............she rules. I would much rather sit in a room with her than with Prince I'm afraid to say. I do recall once at a 3121 Vegas aftershow in Prince's restaurant that his band played 'Who is He and What is He to You'.........I just about freaked. But then I realized it was a Bill Withers cover and not a Meshell song........but it was close! Here is the original in case you have not heard it in a while:

I remember you and she did express her appreciation when you yelled out Choices!! I would have liked a few more upbeat tunes and I would hAve loved to hear Comet, Come to Me, but still a very good show.

Everything you just said. She has created one beautifully crafted album after another with no pretense. Honestly, she has surpassed Prince in my excitement and anticipation of a new release.
