I like her perspective on the whole thing, real classy. She could've easily been nasty.

That's is so true. People who do extraordinary things can still be flawed. Prince's hostility toward her for recording with Warner Bros. seems to reflect a very narcissistic 'if you're not with me, you're against me' way of thinking.

I couldn't agree more. Meshell's music is beyond category, I think even moreso than Prince at this point. Each album is completely different than the one before it. Her newest is so awesome I had to buy the vinyl and a new table just to hear it as it should be heard.

She said that she feels "raceless and genderless" when she creates music. I fucking love that. She quite obviously makes music based on what she feels and not what she thinks will sell.

The "house nigga" comment...that was fucked up. But her tweet nicely reminds one of karma.

This article introduced me to the term "ninjaneer"... and I love it for that.

Isn't there supposed to be one or two collaborations of them in the vault, though?

Doesnt suprise me at all. Reminds me of how he treated Sinead. This is Prince's biggest tragedy. He does not seem to be able to be a real person and is incapable of just being a normal, nice guy. Its funny how we all made fun of Michael for pretty much the same and always thought "our guy" was so superior but in the end Prince and MJ are more alike than Prince is to the more grounded artist of his generation.

I agree with your premise but not the conclusion you reached. MJ hired an incompetent personal doctor that helped cause his death and not to mention MJ's trials and tribulations, with emphasis on the former.

I always thought that Prince and Michael were extremely talented guys,but they have their share of "issues" They have alot of personality flaws.

I think Prince has a problem with *strong* women who are opininated and can think for themselves With his own female proteges,there hasn't been too many issues because,for the most part, they just sit back and let him control everything.They don't challenge him,or question him.Sinead O' Connor and Meshell Ndegeocello don't appear to be weak women at all,lol.It's easy to see why he had problems with them.

Seems to me that Prince can be your best friend but it's one of those friendships that has so many conditions of control all over it. And those friendships never last even with subservient women like Sheila E.

At this stage of his life, Prince has been divorced twice and with no children it's sad that he doesn't have what I would call 'home'. Some people don't need that but Prince wanted that and it didn't work out. Hiis relationship history from best friend Andre to Wendy & Lisa, Dez D, no one seems to last (thankfully Larry ain't around so much!), and it shows that Prince is able to severe ties no matter the cost.

It's been said that to have friends you have to show yourself as friendly.

thing is we ALL have someone that would say that about us. To get to the top in showbiz talent is not always enough...sometimes you have to be ruthless. That quality is part of his make up..why do we expect him to be Mary Poppins? We know that when he is pissed off & angry some of his best music comes out. He has also acknowledged his faults in interviews if memory serves me right so cut him some slack & let him be human.

I would say alot of this is true, but that doesnt mean it apply's to the rift with Meshell. Apparently Prince was at a vulnerable moment about the whole WB thing, he'd also realized that corporate america just keeps rolling along without your black ass so in a moment of weakness he played the race card. Meshell, being too smart and strong willed looked at it and said...mmmmm no thanks bruh, i love you but not like that. When she did it reminded him of what he was already learning, that he was admired by the Meshell's of the world but he was no pied piper. She may have been hurt by it, but D'Angelo has a story to tell that he stopped telling because he put dude in proper perspective and chose to love the funk that he put down instead of the person.

He was very charming and likeable when I met him. He's a funny guy.

Oh pleeze...for anyone to pass judgement on someone based on a couple celebrity interviews is ludicrous. You could easily find a hundred contrary opinions. In this day of celebrity mass media culture, people act like they kmow someone when they don't. And that goes for Sinead, Meshell and Prince.

I learned to not trust others to rely my personal opinion of people on.

It's easy to spread a story that somebody is a horrible person and that you are victimized. That's why I never believe those stories. Why does that person feel the need to make me hate somebody I don't know?
