Trying to work out which albums are flawless Being somewhat bored at work, and seeing Militants response in the Dirty Mind v Controversy thread stating "Dirty Mind is damn near flawless", I though I would go through each album and see how many songs I dont care for or would skip on each album. Here is the result of my afternoon's noodling: [Edited 9/3/14 7:37am]

95% of the songs listed above are better than 'the flow' or 'arrogance'

I will just say the flawless albums to me in years , All from 1980 to 1988 [Edited 9/3/14 7:37am]

Those are two funky, high energy tracks!

I'm frankly staggered by your list. It includes a lot of P's finest material.

Yeah, that list includes too many good songs. Prince may have played Take Me With U and Raspberry beret into overkill live, but I wouldn't skip them normally, and would NEVER skip them after first getting the albums.
But to try to answer the question....
The first six albums are technically flawless in my mind. I never listen to Partyup that much, or Do It All Nite, but they are not bad songs. I have to get to Around The World In A Day where I skip The Ladder, but again, not a bad song...pretty much the same with Parade, I may not love I Wonder U, but it's a good song...only when I get to SOTT, which is my favorite, do I really skip....and that would be It's Gonna Be A Long, Long, Boring Night. That song just takes so long. Crystal Ball would've been a better choice if he wanted a long song, or he coulda picked any 2 from: the original version of Old Friends 4 Sale and Moonbeam Levels or Witness 4 The Prosecution...
From 1990 on, there are multiple songs I would skip from most albums....Lotus Flow3r is the only post 1989 album that I don't skip a track on...and that's only the LF Disc...MPLS and Elixer have multiple skips for me.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

omg .. skip 'something in the water'?!?!?!
that song is THE reason I listen to 1999 .. everything just leads up to that song .. one of his best songs ever
if we are talking "flawless" PARADE PURPLE RAIN THE FAMILY
then .. SOTT only because the greatness of certain songs completely makes you forget that a couple songs are just ok 1999 .. same as sott but it's really only Free that keeps this one from being truly flawless
everything else is spotty or complete garbage

Some of the songs that you would skip are outrageous mann lol. Something IN the Water, reallly? "Don't make me chase u, even doves have pride.."

I disagree with many if your choices, but I love that your skip list for NEWS includes North, East, West, and South. That rules. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

For me Parade is the only flawless album, and arguably his most eclectic. SOTT would be but for 'It'.

Relax people, they aint all songs I would skip, but songs that, to my ears, prevent the album from being flawless. For an album to be flawless it needs every song to be a 10/10. In fact I skip very few songs until we get to the mid/late 90's albums and beyond. Hell, I dont even skip Jughead (sometimes)

Yeah, Parade has become my favorite album over the last few years. Such an interesting and diverse album, and great production. It is pretty much flawless indeed. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

The only flawless albums in my opinion are Dirty Mind, Purple Rain and Sign'O'The Times. But Parade is my favourite album, flaws and all, so i'm not too pushed about flawless.

Dirty Mind and Parade. Both are flawless. I could take 12 songs from Emancipation and make a flawless album, but perhaps that's not saying much. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

'It' is one of my absolute favourite songs. The only change I would make to SOTT is replacing 'It's Gonna be a Beautiful Night' with Crystal Ball or Joy in Repeition and Shockadelica. Despite that, I'd still say SOTT is flawless.
Dirty Mind 1999 Parade Sign O the Times Damn Near Flawless: Purple Rain Lovesexy The Rainbow Children

Purple Rain, Sign O the Times and The Gold Experience were absolutely flawless

Its very hard to do this, as it depends on my moods. If I am a bit sick of a song or not feeling it, I will skip it no matter how good it is. That said I will list the songs I never listen to on each album. . A lot of better songs I may skip part way thru at time, as sometimes I don't want to or have time to listen to all 9 and a half minutes of automatic.
[Edited 9/5/14 22:55pm] Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
