'It' is one of my absolute favourite songs. The only change I would make to SOTT is replacing 'It's Gonna be a Beautiful Night' with Crystal Ball or Joy in Repeition and Shockadelica. Despite that, I'd still say SOTT is flawless.
Dirty Mind 1999 Parade Sign O the Times Damn Near Flawless: Purple Rain Lovesexy The Rainbow Children
[Edited 9/4/14 12:00pm] U r INCORRECT. U R the weakest link...goodbye. Sott is flawless but for slow love. This is actually factually true. If u read preverbs 12:13 backwards and record it and then play it forward at 45 rpms while recording and play THAT backwards...it says so.

Purple Rain may well be his only 'flawless' album. However, albums like 1999 and Parade come very close. SOTT is just too long, though the title track is easily one of his finest compositions.
One flawless album is much better than most artists. Good luck trying to find a flawless album by The Beatles

Yes, and those albums are flawless!!! I'm saying, Emancipation, Symbol. D&P, etc would all be flawless if they were 35 mins long. Diamonds & Pearls Cream Gett Off Insatiable.

Hmmm...very interesting question although can't agree with the flaws identified.
On Dirty Mind through Batman any 'flaws' are just part of the charm. Can probably only skip tracks because I want to hear another one over again. Couldn't get with Graffiti Bridge as an album at all but had no probs with playing the film instead. D&P is also a complete entity whose flaws are part of the album experience although one I never play anymore, it having got very tied up with its time, somehow. Symbol, along with The Rainbow Children, I can only in entirety. They're journeys and you can't get off the bus til they're over. 'One Night Alone...Live' has this quality but it's an experience where you can hop on hop off but again, there are no problems with any part of it.
Conversely, I rarely play 'Lovesexy' in its entirety even though there's supposedly no choice on my copy. It IS a journey but it's not one I always wanna take, preferring some of the signposts as standalones.
'Emancipation' has lots of flaws but on each play, they're different tracks. No way I can do the whole thing in a sitting. 'Crystal Ball' has never worked for me as an album concept, leaving man of its tracks unplayed, forgotten. I couldn't even say what's on it, really. It was conceived as a bootleg and kind of is.
The rest of them, I don't treat as album experiences, much. It's more a kind of 'Oh that track...what album's it on?' [Edited 9/7/14 16:25pm] [Edited 9/7/14 16:26pm] “I don't believe anything, but I have many suspicions.”

I have my own flawless version of that album, neither Thunder nor Daddy Pop are on it. Sometimes I think prince is right in releasing the amount he does, the rest of us can't bloody agree on what his good songs are.
