Don't we start this thread every week? Plenty of songs I dislike and even hate. But at this point, given the feast of negativity that we started right after we got the news we'll finally get what we bitched we were not getting, it feels like someone using Prince as his own personal punching bag. We get it -- Prince is not God and he releases some weak songs. This has been established a million times. Let's save our energy for the beginning of October, when we'll have plenty of opportunities to praise or diss Prince. But if you feel like bitching about Jughead, Hide the Bone, Animal Kingdom, Kamasutra, Life of the party and can't get enough of restating your dislike, hey it's a free country.

Well damn! You just want to dictate what we talk about, when we talk about it and how we talk about it, don't you? How about YOU save your energy for the beginning of October because you're going to burn yourself out, trying to tell us what we should and/or should not be thinking and/or saying, when the Plectrum drops. ohgoon

So pace yourself. comfort

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I don't see a thread like this as just a font of negativity. I mean, shit, go to a 007 fan forum and people talk all the time about movies or scenes they hate. It doesn't make them any less of Bond fans, or mean that they're just negative. It can be fun to vent about the small number of shits Prince has shat over the years. Relax!

Bleu cheese? Sorry - Animal Kingdom is pure limburger.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I will give Animal Kingdom credit for at least addressing a real topic, one that's critically important to millions of people. Many artists just write about bullshit every time. Prince's execution might have been severely botched, but he tried.

If my post feels dictatorial, it's because what I'm saying makes a lot of sense.

It's not like I could stop anyone forcibly -- I can only persuade.

In any case, perhaps these threads are just warm ups to be in shape for the big day. Stretching exercises for naysayers -- that must be it.

I'll play and confess Desr Mr. Man has some of the dumbest lyrics - a shame because it's otherwise a lovely song.

so I'll say "Freaks On This Side"

that line that goes something like "when you know everything in every book, congratulations, you're in the new power generation" makes me want to stab my own brains out for listening to something so stupid.

Everyday is a Winding Road is def one that can disappear forever. Add Graffiti Bridge, Purple & Gold, Hot Summer, and that 1999 new master.

Can't believe someone said Hide the Bone. That one is funky as hell!

What it about? Are there vocals on it?

Rather than saying it just bad, any specifics?

I'm interested, but I don't want to go buy it to listen for myself. I'd like to hear your opinion

Its not the live album you might want or expect. As i recall it pulls select songs from a few Aftershows
We all know his Aftershows usually kick ass, but this compilation falls a bit short confused

The rendition of some tracks are not too flattering. Not a whole lot of Prince singing or guitar playing
There are a lot of horns, It kind of reminds me of that Dixieland Jazz or Circus music feel (the horns that is)
Some people here dig the horn vibe of it, I dont.
If you can listen before you buy it, unless its really cheap.. Or unless you are like me a collector who collects all albums lol
IDK i tried to like it. Played it many times, but it doesn't move me, its a bit boring. Its just not for me biggrin

Just my twocents

I was so, SO fucking let down by Indigo Nights. I have multiple boots from around that time that just smoke the shit out of it. How could Prince release a live album so dull and lifeless?!?

As for me? I'm going to have to go with the obvious answer of Purple and Gold. I really don't know what that song is supposed to be.

Animal Kingdom.

Animal Kingdom one of my favorite Prince songs ever...

And I actually like Every day is a winding road on Rave.. it was one of only about 4 tracks on it that I actually got into.

If I could I'd fling the whole GoldNigga album into the sun.. My jaw literally hit the floor when i heard that crap, and I promptly threw it in the trash. I still want my 14 dollars back (or however much I paid for that ish).

No mention of "Everybody Loves Me"? That's the first one that sprung to mind.

.

Some people don't like stuff like 'Animal Kingdom' and 'I Wonder U' because they dislike weird music, some don't like rap so they slog off 'Funky Design', 'Jughead' and songs like that. If you strip out some of the lyrics and subpar rapping, 'Jughead' actually has a nice little funk jam behind it.

.

"Everybody Loves Me" sounds like a song you'd hear on Barney the Dinosaur. Some songs like 'Had U' and 'Wedding Feast' hardly count because they're obvious throwaways/jokes but I think Prince was trying to be serious with ELM.
