Bad Prince albums that you still enjoy listening to I know Rave (both versions) and 20ten are bad. They're just fucking bad. But I still love listening to then. I don't know if thus is the musical equivalent of watching bad horror films. Or maybe a guilty pleasure. Do you feel this way about any Prince albums? I don't enjoy NPS, MPLSound, Planet Earth, or other shitty albums. But I just really dig Rave and 20ten. What gives? "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

If you enjoy them then they are not bad albums

There are no bad Prince albums. MPLS Sound and New Power Soul are among the weakest, and I still enjoy both of them for the most part. Art Official Name Rip Off from De La Soul is shaping up to have some clunkers, but will likely have too many good songs to be a bad album. Try getting through Bon Jovi's "The Circle" more than once. As much as I love Terence Trent D'Arby, his recent albums have one or two good songs and a bunch of really bad songs.

I thought you said 20ten and Rave are bad. You dig them? That doesn't make sense. So beyond that initial reaction, what do you like about listening to a bad album? or why do you like listening to a bad album.

It's like this, okay. I enjoy Taco Bell. Nobody in their right fucking mind would say Taco Bell was good food. And it bakes me shit like a banshee afterward. But I still love eating it. Also, I like listening to other artists' bad albums. Do you know Tin Machine? I love kistening to Tin Machine. But it's awful. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Y'know...I don't think there's a single Prince album that I think is irredeemably bad. No matter how hard a particular album blows, there is always a track or two that I like. So what I usually do is set iTunes to play only the tracks I like and skip those I don't. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

By 'bad' do you mean albums that are generally regarded as weaker albums by the community? Kind of like how Graffiti Bridge is seen as a bad movie by most people but I love it?? I don't know what people think of Graffiti Bridge as an album, but I love that album. I think it's my favourite Prince album.

I take it you're back on your meds??? Ha. No. Totally unmedicated, I chose to listen to Rave Un2 on the way to work and Rave In2 on the way home from work. They're both incredibly listenable albums. Yes, Prince was coasting and there are some boneheaded decisions throughout. But dammit, I enjoy it. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Tin machine actually had some good tracks, alot of bad ones but there were so good ones. so its what you like, as someone says on here, 'different strokes for different folks.'

I thoroughly enjoy Planet Earth and MPLSound. And I could probably sit through NPS just for the nostalgia factor. But let's not test that.

There came a time when Symbol, the freakiest cat on earth, decided that he's gone mad and it was time to get on the bus back to choych. Via Oprah and f*cking Arsenio Hall.
