RATE THE LAST 7 albums For me things slowed down artistically for P after The Rainbow Children which still gives me shivers and I believe it's one of his very best records. I know opinions are divided on that. But I believe the last couple albums really were fantastic especially Lotusflow3r. Going to be listening to these a lot in the run up to 29th September, whoop! Go..... 20ten - 8/10 Lotusflow3r - 9.5/10 MPLsound - 6/10 Indigo Nights - 8/10 Planet Earth - 6/10 3121 - 6/10 Musicology - 7/10 "Still Crazy 4 Coco Rock"

Those last two songs coming after "Better With Time" don't really work at all as a sequence to me. You're right in the sense that he's had releases that are more all over the place than that one though.

Lotus 3121 indigo MPLSound 20ten musicology
I don't like putting marks out of ten so have ordered them in order of preference. Lotus is top by a long shot and Musicology is bottom by just as much. Unlike most I love Indigo Nights and it's up there accordingly. I was at both shows which were used for the tracks on the disc and maybe that raises it up for me? I have the complete shows on boots but love that the tracks here are in soundboard quality.

Prince doesn't sing on Elixer, (well , one song) and only co-wrote 3 tracks on Super. There's no way they should be considered Prince albums. [Edited 8/31/14 2:39am] RIP

I agree that it sounds like it all belongs together it's just a shame it's a piece of shit. His worst since NPS. IMO of course. * TRC 9.5 ONA 8.5 (Would be rated higher, possibly a 10, if "The Work" and "Last December" were included.) Musicology 8 3121 7.5 (Would be rated higher, probably a 9, if "Lolita" features guitars rather than keyboards and if "The Word" was more like the live version from ALMA". And, while I love the lyrics to "Love," I would love for it to be played with guitars and horns rather than keyboards.) Planet Earth 7 (The lyrics of "Mr. Goodnight" almost make me not want to hear the entire album.) Indigo Nights 7 Loutusflow3r/MPLSound 8.5 ("F.U.N.K." should have been included in this set, and "Colonized Mind" is one of my all-time favorite Prince songs, and I've been a fan since 1979. It is in my top ten favorite Prince songs even though it's a rip off of another song. He didn't write "Party Up," and that's in my top ten also.) 20Ten 8 (Yet, I do have "Cause and Effect," which I love, listed as the first track, followed by "Compassion".) * All of the singles released since 2013 have been between 7.5 and 10, except for "The Breakdown," which is a 0 for me, but overall that means that I'm still moved by much of what Prince creates. I am disappointed that "Rock-n-Roll Love Affair" and "Screwdriver" didn't make either new album, but there seems to be more songs that I like on both albums than songs I don't like so I'll wait to see how I rate them. There are vocal George Duke albums (credited to "George Duke") where he doesn't sing a note (guest vocalists do it), are those albums to be dismissed as George Duke albums, too? Just an example, there are others. It doesn't matter who sings or what name is written on the cover. The main creative force behind Elixer is : he composed, arranged and per4med everything save the lead vocals, he chose the tracklist, he conceived the whole project. It's a album, period. It's also a Bria Valente album, but they could (and maybe should) have written "Prince and Bria Valente" on the cover and all of a sudden it'd be a album to you This obsession regarding who "sings" really has to stop, a singer is just a per4mer among others and not necessarly the leading creative force behind a project. As for Superconductor, Andy was definitely the main songwriter here, but was all over the place when it comes to arranging and per4ming it, so it's by all means a collaborative effort. Once again, it wouldn't have been an exageration to credit the album to "Andy Allo & Prince" if they had so wished. Similar situation with GCS2000, Larry composed most of it and sang but in the end it was as much a album as a Larry Graham album, a very collaborative effort.
