Bought the Clouds mp3, liked it so I preordered both. I'll rip my cds to my computer/ipod. Started to preorder the Aus vinyl but apparently it's sold out. If and when I see it them for sale on vinyl again I'll be getting those.

I love vinyl, but from what I've heard so far, this is not a vinyl-worthy release. Hell, I might not even buy these at all.

I'll buy CDs, even though it looks like the download versions from the artist websites are hi-def WAVs.

.

Honestly, I don't hear the difference from CD to HD. That's just me. It might be important to some people.

I pre-ordered the 24bit wavs but have always said I really can't tell the difference between a 320kMP3 and lossless. I only ordered the 'better' ones because they're the same price as the MP3's.

To be honest I struggled to hear any difference for Breakdown between the HD wav and the 128k mp3. I don't think it matters too much with the way this stuff is mastered these days. I'd much rather have it mastered without any clipping and some decent dynamic range but that's never gonaa happen is it!

I'm gonna preorder the bundled CDs & mp3s, and buy them both on vinyl later.

Both in CD format for me. May not like all the tracks, but I don't mind supporting the cat.

CD. Tangible formats are the only sure things in life. Especially when dealing with anything Prince-related.

With the vinyl revival in full swing now, I'm opting for VHS.
I find the analogue warmth is superior to this digital nonsense and video 'pause snow' really personalises the experience.

just a question, you'll have to excuse my ignorance, i know lots of people prefer the sound of vinyl, which is anologue, but does music which is recorded digitally still sound better on vinyl than on cd for which it was recorded for?

BTW guys, I remember in another thread people asking about which digital store to order from to get the best bitrate. I think Google Music is actually better than Amazon or iTunes, which were the ones suggested at the time, as all my downloads from there are 320kbps, while the other two use 256kbps. I'll probably still buy the mp3 and cd bundle from the Warner store just so I have something to hold, but maybe this information will be useful to a few of you.

Maybe later but not as a primary listening format.

I still do not have a turntable, let alone a decent one.

Let alone time and energy to listen to all tthat stuff. There is a backlog.

Not just in CD's but also in beer (!) and life.

As I asked above and no one has answered, will the vinyl sound better than on CD if the music is recorded digitally? I can understand that music from late 80's and before was recorded analogue so will sound better on a analogue format being vinyl. I've always wondered.

Cheers

Of course it will.

Digital studio's typically do not record at 44.1 KHz but may use higher sampling rates.

If the vinyl pressing is made using a master that was not resampled to 44.1 Khz then you are in business for theoretically better sound.

Who needs prince if u have your own brewery...Personally i am looking forward for some new pressed boots...Dont like the official releases....I only listen to Prince live as his studio tracks ( analogue or whatever) isnt my music anymore. The new tracks r overpolished as u can hear on the raped studio breakdown track.....

CDs from a brick & mortar store on day of release.

Vinyl same day if the store has it, down the road from an etailer if they don't.

I'll rip my own digital copy for my iPod from the CDs I buy, thank you very much.

wink

All that said, if it turns out there are any exclusive bonus tracks anywhere I'll have to completely re-evaluate everything...
