It definitely needs to. These decisions are equivalent to what happened to Paul McCartney while bringing up his kids in the 80's. The creative spark and performance skills are all intact but the FINESSE, the makin' em moan factor just AIN'T.

I'm not one to complain about his current output, but I have to agree; the last "Prince" album, one where he challenged you while listening, didn't fit a particular genre, seemingly created the songs without trying to please anyone, just create, was The Rainbow Childrn. His output since then, I hate to say, really comes off as just every day R&B for the most part. Clouds, for instance. If I heard this on the radio before knowing who it was, I would have not known it was Priince until the vocals. It could have been Usher, or Trey Songz. There was a time where I could turn on the radio and hear one of his singles, not knowing it was Prince, but after the first few seconds of wierdness, I'd realize it was, in fact, Prince. Not becauuse of a signature sound, but because his shit just ALWAYS sounded different from anything else. SOTT (I remember hearing the single and thinking "what the fuck" and rushed down to my favorite wrecka stow at the time to by the single) WDC, Alphabet Street, hell, even Batdance...there Prince was able to create shit that was just...out there. Not saying that he should try and top those, but where is that "thing" he had that made his art just stand out?
