I quite like the music in it, but have no idea what most of it is about ! I note that the comments here all seem to focus on whether PBL sounds good or not - no real reference to the lyrics.
So can someone help me ? What the heck is PBL ? is it basically being wrapped up in and enjoying a "69" ? If so, where does the gun come into it? Can't say I've looked closely at the lyrics though. What is the song about ?
Thanks in advance ! | |

It's a good song, I wouldn't say it's a great song. I could do without the horrid a cappela and the chanting. The production really stands out, the warm, guitar heavy 3rdeyegirl sound is head and shoulders above the sound of Prince's recent songs and it makes me excited for the album. Especially when Wow, Marz, Plectrumelectrum and Funknroll are much better songs (and as some say, Tictactoe and Aintturnaround). . The Breakdown is awfully produced, but live, it's a much better song. If it had a 3rdeyegirl production it would be brilliant, but as it is, I'd rather listen to Pretzelbodylogic. I wonder if a lot of Prince's recent songs, like Cause and Effect and 2Y2D would benefit from 3rdeyegirl production. Hundalasiliah!

I've never paid much attention to Prince's lyrics, I just enjoy the sound or I don't. Probably why I enjoy The Rainbow Children so much, never been bothered by the lyrical content. His lyrics have never really been very deep anyway. RIP

I like it. Was quite impressed with the remix which omits the shouty chorus. [Edited 8/30/14 9:47am] She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

I think the song is embarassing lyrically and the high school girl way he delivers the chant...
Also he has done this song so many times... its too slow... the slow drum kick ugh its just boring as hell. Speed it up P!
pretzelbodylogic is so much fun blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.... rolling my eyes [Edited 8/30/14 18:32pm] Dance... Let me see you dance

The playing is technically very interesting, lots of nice funk elements. But the vocals / chorus / esp the opening = dreadful. "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32

only a music video of Hannah fingering herself to the song can make it at least tolerable.

Stranger said: I think the song is quite good apart from the intro and the awfully cheesy chorus whith a title that is also quite a mouthful; pretzelbodylogic...
Now if you want to make a rock-funk song that is sexy you ought to listen to Lenny's latest single Strut... Maybe not very groundbreaking but it is short, sweet, funky and sexy and with chorus/title that rocks the socks off Pretzel...
Stranger I heard Strut today. It sounds dated and the lyrics are a bit clumsy. Kind of sounds like MJ's State of Shock but not as good. It is better than Pretzelbodylogic for sure though. Dance... Let me see you dance

I chopped off the intro too, and it does make for a stronger song. It now opens with the guitar work - no chanting. It's a clean intro too. The chanting chorus is still there, but it's less obnoxious when embedded in the song vs. the opening. When the teaser came out earlier this year, I commented that it was one of the worst things I've heard from any artist. It's not quite that bad, but I'd say it's in the 20 worst Prince songs.

It's awesome. Was challenging at first, like Tambourine or Temptation, but now it's on heavy rotation. I like that the backup vocals add contrast. They lyrics are fun and inventive. FINALLY Prince is doing inventive lyrics/ideas again - with a borderline nasty verse thrown in there.

This song is fucking terrible. Production sucks. Chanting sucks. Plodding ass rhythm sucks. Lyrics are worse than junior high poetry. If Prince wasn't associated with this tripe NOBODY here would listen to it. It's fucking garbage. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Does anyone know if the reports about Hannah being the lead vocalist on both WHITECAPS and TICTACTOE are true?
Slightly concerned as these were touted as the two strongest tracks when Prince was on lead vocals.
