I think you know why. The question I have is why has Prince not shut down the internet stations that play his music (mostly unreleased & live bootlegs) 24/7 365 days a year. They sound like they have Prince's approval.

I have no idea but I would listen to the channel 24/7 instead of always listening to the 80s channel hoping I would get lucky and a P song would come on. Yesterday, I had the feeling to turn to the 80s Sirius station and when I did it was just at the begining of U Got The Look. I was sooo happy. I couldnt even imagine how much happier I would be if I drove with a Prince channel on. But for now I guess CDs will have to get the job done for me.

I don't know what the requirements for Sirius/XM are, but there's a Prince internet radio channel I listen to all the time, Orange Park Radio. If you have a smartphone or tablet, download TuneIn Radio app and you can access it through there.

Between Google, and Apple, all cars will be fitted with Android and iOS based entertainment systems that sync with your smartphone within 10 years, so the future of car radio is going to be internet radio stations anyway, which will kill Sirius.

IIRC, there were rumours of negotiations at one point. Prince demanded the Howard Stern deal: $100 million dollars. And that was the end of his satellite radio channel. As well as some other deal with Youtube I believe or some other Internet streaming giant at the time. Not sure how much of it was true. But at one point, it seemed like Prince was talking up those things, and then he was angry as hell with them, and talking them down.

More to the point, why has he not shut down the entire internet? He should take out a lawsuit against the internet as a whole.

RadioZix is another APP for OPR and can Chromecast.

Prince should try to work something out (especially when he gets ready to release the new project). It would be really cool to have a 24-7 Prince channel.

.

I used to hear Stevie Wonder mention (when he was doing his morning show in LA a few years ago) that he was in talks about his own channel too, but that never materialiazed either.

Awesome, I'll have to check that out, I've had a Chromecast since right after they came out! Use it every day smile

I think I read that TuneIn just added Chromecast support though, too, but I haven't checked yet.

COOL! "CLOUDCASTER" is another APP I'm using lately. You can chromecast your upload in Dropbox. Including large video files (m4v). Now a thread on Chromecast APPs could start a good one.

I have one - it's called my iPhone. Got just about every song on it I'd want to listen to.

OK, just kidding - kind of. I think what it comes down to for Prince is this question - how much could he get paid? By Sirius, and by sales generated from the channel? My guess is that the Sirius payment isnt enough to get his attention, and the potential music sales from the channel are probably not that much. And I guess royalties aren't enough to move the chains either.

I listen to E Street Radio all the time but I've never gone out and bought a Springsteen album because I heard it on E Street Radio. But I have bought albums from other artists that I've heard on either E Street Radio or the Garage channel.

That is why should do a limited run around an album release. 3 weeks. Use Sirius to promote 3rd Eye Girl, Remaster release. Get Stern to talk about Prince negative or positive he still has millions listeners.

Peepl from Sirius were watching the god awful Fan chats when they first started. They were in talks about an all Prince station. From what I gather the $ was not good enough.

Because he does not know how to monetize on stuff properly.

Be it due to his control freak nature which works out the other way in practical situations, due to contractual issues or whatever. He fails.

See the Montreux DVDs. (multiple!)

See thr 20ten deluxe set.
See the 3EG album.

See other live projects.

It has been told again and again here.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

That's...that's acutally not a bad idea. Which, knowing Prince, is why there isn't a channel like that. For starters, he'd probably want Howard Stern money up front. Then he'd insist on programming it, shit it up with throw away tracks and bible readings and shit, complain about Sirius and not getting enough of the cut and that sort of thing.

.

Short answer: he'd want too much money and he can't control it.
