The Good Life (Bullets Go Bang Remix) has the same drum pattern as "Right Back Here In My Arms".

Anyone else got one? lol

A comprehensive list of instances where Prince does the following would be great.

1. Uses the same music/licks in different songs (ie. Born 2 B.R.E.E.D. vs 2Nite)

2. Use of the same lyrics across songs (cant think of any offhand but I know they are out there)

3. Mentioning another songs name within a different song.

Tons of these.

The guitar part in "When U Love Somebody" is the same as the one in "Ain't No Place Like U"

It feels like "So Strong" uses the same bass riff as "Lemon Crush", the drums from "I Wish U Heaven", and a guitar line from "Alexa De Paris"

He mentions the song "U" in about 700 songs wink

"Ain't No Place Like U" also shares the same drumline with "Slave".

"Shake" (boom mix) 1990 has the same beat pattern/samples as "7" 1992

.

mixes on the "Cream" 12" 1991 have the same beat pattern/samples

as "My Name Is Prince" 1992

.

"Alphabet St" and "God Is Alive" share the same beat pattern.

.

"Housequake" "Shockadelica" "Superfunkycalifragisexi" (coda)

all share the same beat pattern (aka the "Housequake beat")

  • "Soulpsychodelicide" is mentioned in "Joy In Repetition"
  • "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic" is mentioned in "200 Balloons"
  • "Kiss" is mentioned in "Acknowledge Me" (prob. doesn't count, but taken in context of the lyrics, and the kissing noises, it sounds to me like he's referencing the actual song)
  • "Orgasm" has Vanity's vox from "Vibrator" and the guitar track from "Private Joy" (you all knew this one already )
  • The descending melody that is played throughout "3 x 2 = 6" is very similar to the bassline in "The Sweeter She Is" at 2:08
  • "Compassion" has the same '1-2' drum beats from "Let's Pretend We're Married". (The linn drum sound is also there but the pattern is different)
  • the one-second strike sound at the very opening of "The Plan" is also on "Hypnoparadise" at 0:13 and "Baby Don't Care" at 0:12.
  • sample of lyrics from "Electric Chair" are incorporated into "Batdance"--"if a man is considered guilty for what goes on in his mind, then give me the electric chair for all my future crimes".

This was fun smile

Hmmm, off the top of my head these are some not already mentioned.

.

Purple Rain & The Ladder very similar drums.

.

The outtake of The Flow and Daddy Pop are identical. As well as Big Fun & Poom Poom.

.

The Sacrifice of Victor and Martika's Kitchen share the same drums and bassline. Keyboards are similar as well.

I thought it was confirmed that this was from a sample catalog that Zappa also used and not lifted from a Zappa recording. No?

It's a stock sample on the sampling synth Prince was using at the time (a Fairlight I believe).

The sample itself is indeed from a Frank Zappa song "Our Bizarre Relationship" (well it's actually a

dialouge track) off of the 1969 Mothers Of Invention album "Uncle Meat".

It's the first line of the track. "bizzzz-aaaar-rrrrr"

Song concept similarities (as opposed to actual shared recordings)

Partyman and Daddy Pop share the same chorus melody.

Housequake and Jughead share the same chorus structure and triple hit rhythm idea

Yes by the Family is an instrumental reworking of Lisa. 8 by Madhouse, with added vocals became Circle of Amour. Sacrifice of Victor evolved from Martikas Kitchen. Mr Happy evolved from Good Life (big City remix)
