Consolidated 'America Number One'/ Hot Thing http://youtu.be/aKAFlHQRcj0 We all know what made Prince great back in the day was unashamed pilfering of other people's hooks and ideas, and then sprinkling his unique fairy dust on them. Here's one in reverse. A great track that nicks the Hot Thing hook. Who cares when great music is the outcome. That's the essence of pop: being influenced by the zeitgeist and taking it to another place. Prince was the absolute king of it. don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

It's crazy to call it pilfering, that's reductive at best though I know you mean to pay homage. By that standard, few composers did not at one point pilfer. I can point you to music from Bach that pilfered Vivaldi, most composers somewhat built on the foundations of other composers one way or another.

ufoclub said: Isn't that sampling and looping? Yeah. Or it can be done more loosely. This has echoes of Housequake all over the groove. http://youtu.be/wUu0aACpljE From the same album. Sign O The Times obviously had a big effect on them. don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....
