That feeling when the last single from an album dropped... Remember back in the day when you had a hyped-up, fully promoted album? Then after all the excitement leading up to its release, you then enjoyed the buzz of the new music as you spent months absorbing it and then the follow-up singles and often a tour? And then you got to that last single being released. It was at that point you realised that the project was old-hat and you started to speculate about the next project. ----- Right now, that's the feeling I'm getting. Plectrum Electrum feels like that old album that's already run its course, which is awful given that we haven't even had it yet! Likewise the supposed solo Prince album that hasn't even been named and doesn't even feel definite. This project just doesn't feel new anymore and when/if Plectrum Electrum and the new solo Prince album (if they're not one and the same thing) ever get released, it'll feel like it did when the Black Album finally got released. Just getting it out there to complete our collections. Four years after his last album proper. He could have made this an amazingly exciting 'event' release. Instead, he's just going to be releasing something that, no matter how good the music is, is already past its sell-by date. Shame.

Misleading thread title, I thought it would be a great thread about nostalgia for the old days when the music business was a totally different thing. . Instead I got, well, didn't I just read the exact same thing here a minute ago: http://prince.org/msg/7/409532 ? . Yep. So here we go again: . Do u wish me to create a third thread about this or u think 2 on the front page is enough? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

...and then later the last single dropped, with those rather uninteresting remixes of Hot Thing on the back, and I thought, "Prince has clearly left the building. Let's hear the new album!" ...which certainly didn't disappoint.
