He´s probably referring to how Prince talked in Purple Rain, hence the past tense. - -
It´s a sad thing really when people nowadays, for instance Lil Wayne, find coherent, intelligible sentences and a clear pronunciation so remarkable that they have to mention it as an inspiration, like a thing from a long gone past, and something unusual for black people. I remember that most rappers during my teenage years, even the tough ones, were extraordinary storytellers and poets who used almost perfect grammar and pronunciation, and as crazy as it sounds today, I must admit that rap music helped me a lot to learn the English language as a kid or teenager. Unfortunately, this can´t be said about Lil Wayne or Chief Keef. - Or maybe he just liked the way Prince said "Answer me motherfuckerrrr!" in that movie. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?" | |
