BOTTOM LINE: PRINCE IS SHOOK! Dude is still chasing a hit when he doesn't need to! And he knows, prolly by the response on here, that his Loyal Royals (I'm no "Fam") aren't feeling his recent output. I love the dude when he is not trying so hard. The 80's seemed effortless because he was doing him. True, he had his biggest success with an album who's title track was said to be written after he decided to show that he could do Bob Seeger, but Purple Rain the album was still pure P. Weird, fun, bold, and irreverent.

. And "Breakfast Can Wait" is not a PG version of "Come". Stop with this foolishness.

Agree with everything you've written!!
The weirdos are going to hunt you down though for talking about him this way because remember, he's a genius [insert sarcasm as he has demonstrated much of this in a very long time].

And to which weirdos would you be referring?

Weird, fun, bold, and irreverent. The Sycophants will prolly ask "well, why are you still here?" To that I say, 1. Because the org is still here. 2. Because I've been down with P for a while now, and I didn't get picked on all throughout my childhood for defending holmes just so he could squander everything by putting out weak shit. 3. Because he needs to hear it. I remember a long time ago, he mentioned being "sick". This is WAY before sick became another way of saying "dope" or "fresh" or "cool" or "nice". If I recall correctly, "sick" to him meant doing the shit that nobody else had the nerve to do. BOLD! What happened to that? :sigh:Please file under: no shit Sherlock. Sad...but TRUE. Prince's fan base is all over the map, from people who only listen to rap and R&B, to people who only listen to rock, to people who only listen to funk to people who only listen to electro-pop.. so generalized statements like this really don't make much sense in the end. He makes particular songs for particular audiences, few people will "feel" every single thing he does because few people have aesthetics as broad as he does. Anyhow carry-on. Although Im pretty sure there are about 200 other threads making your same statement still open a few threads or pages over. Change it one more time..

So, before this thread drops likea stone, can you tell me, what is a "Fam"? ----------

Actually, let me say something once and for all: the term "famz" is pretentious and dismissive.
Let me be clear: you have every right to dislike and even spit on Prince's recent output. You can even bury it and then urinate on it to show just how much you disapprove of Prince's work since a) the Gold Experience or b) Lovesexy or even (in a few rare cases) c) 1999. Go ahead, you have my blessings, and may the catharsis make you see this:
If Prince is so different than what you want him to be and his music is now really nauseating, all things considered, then you should be a normal person and concentrate on what you like, not what you dislike. It's bad for you to get ulcerated waiting for Prince to release a song you like.
I love reading good criticism, I'll even confess I have a thing for devastating reviews. You can post those plenty, I enjoy point and counterpoint. But don't stick around here for years or decades, it gets very boring. Probably ten times more boring than a recent Prince song is to you.
If you feel Prince is repeating himself, that's fine. But it takes way less energy to write a post than it does to write a song, and let me tell you: in terms of sheer sameness and predictability, you win the Palme d'Or of Unwavering Opinion.
If you don't get my point, then let's talk about it five years from now... or ten? Twenty? It's not like you need the Org to keep up with the old Prince catalog and I'm sure a Loyal Royal has his or her ways with boots, so deep down, why would you even need to post on this site?

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

See point 3 -- why does he need to hear it? Admit it, despite NPS, Rave, the NPGMC, the whole Crystal Ball fiasco, the hostile treatment of fans, Larry, Purple and Gold, etc., you still think there's enough sheer talent there that you think there's a small snowball chance in hell he will come up with something you like. If he was a complete lost cause and his music was so utterly bad, you would not be posting here for years or decades.
In a way, all "famz" need to thank the Loyal Royals for proving their hero is deserving of this kind of unrelenting attention, whether it's negative or positive. It's an accomplishment that Prince does not leave you indifferent 20 years past his alleged artistic demise.

Is Prince chasing/wanting a hit? Why would he? A hit isn't what it once was, certainly not what a hit was worth in the 80's. - Which artist is the biggest on the charts right now? How is their current tour doing? Better number$ than Prince? Doubt it. So, again, I ask: what is a hit worth? - Robin Thicke had the biggest hit of 2013. How's he doing now? - Prince doesn't want a hit. He just wants to play with you. "New Power slide...."

If he's chasing hits he sure isn't trying hard.

Nooooo! Don't go away Coco. Why we would miss out on comedy gold like the post above which basically says, "if you don't like it go away. But really I do value all opinions". Double speak Gold!

First, I agree with MOST of what you said to CocoRock. 2nd, "fam" is SUPPOSED to be dismissive. It was stupid and pretentious of him. Over time it has become a derisive word to describe those that think he can do no wrong and that every release is a "masterpiece". Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

I know these things. You know these things. Prince doesn't seem to. From my POV, yeah, he is chasing a hit. Why else does have journalists go thru his purple bullshit at any given hour of the night to have a listening party, at times asking "do you hear a hit in there?" Why else does have relative children around him ill-advising him that "Fall In Luv 2nite (or however the fuck you spell it)" is a good idea? Why is he still using said children in videos that he doesn't even appear in ("Breakfast Can Wait")? Perhaps in the hopes of fooling the larger public, disguised voice and all, that that tripe isn't from him? Just some observations from my deck.
