2008 Intermediate period

There was a period in 2008 from January - October, where Planet Earth era was done and LotusFlow3r hadn't begun. And it wasn't clear what direction he was going in. There were some pretty cool show/performances and the release of the 21 Nights book, the band was stripped down to smaller formations, Prince did a lot of guest appearances/performing. And there was a song or 2 that he presented that never became a part of any albums.

.

If you know anything about events/performances of this period, clearly not LotusFlower and definately not Planet Earth share share.

.

the Key Club LA, 50th Annual Grammy Awards, -the afterparty, the Knitting Factory, jamming with Sheila E & Escovedo Family, the Green Door LA, the Tonight Show, Turn Me Loose, Coachella with Sheil E Morris Day & Jerome-"this is how the Purle Rain tour was supposed to be" 21 Nights book party the Charity concert and aftershow Donatella Versace Night of Stars...Bria not in sight yet.

Staples Center, Los Angeles
Resurrecting a blast from the 1980's past, Prince protégés the Time, featuring current Academy Chair Jimmy Jam, hit the stage running with hip-hop diva Rihanna joining in the fun. The Time — with dapper lead singer Morris Day — blasted into their timeless funk workout "Jungle Love," the trio's first performance in 15 years. Rihanna then appeared singing her smash hit "Umbrella," taking command like a conquering diva. She capped her segment with "Don't Stop The Music" before the Time reprised "Jungle Love."

TURN ME LOOSE 2008

You don't really know me
You just think you do
It's against the law in 13 states
What i'm gon' do to you

Oh Babe
Got to Turn Me Loose
Uh

If you really love me,
You got to give me what I need
Get yo' stuff and get lost
I'll just Make you bleed

Turn Me Loose
(Turn Me Loose)

The board behind yo' head
Is 'bout to split in two
Whatever's holding up this bed
It won't when i'm through

Oh Babe
Got to Turn Me Loose

If you like these blankets
You better throw them on the floor
Weather girl's a friend of mine
Says "When it rains it pours"

Oh Babe
Turn Me Loose

(Break it down- check me)

You don't understand
I don't do this nightly
But if I did it once
You'd want me to- more than likely

Oh Babe
You got to turn me loose

Much too hard to handle
We can never be more than friends
Speakin of which, you need to learn how to dance
Never come back again

Ow Babe
Turn Me Loose

(Renato! Speak brother)

Turn Me Loose is an unreleased song, which was premiered in a live performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, on 25 April, 2008. It was assumed at the time that a studio version would be included on Prince's next album, and a studio version was played on KJLH internet radio on 24 September, 2008, but the song was not included on his next studio albums Lotusflow3r or MPLSound. It is unknown if the song was ever intended for either of these albums, although there is some evidence that the song was intended for an unreleased 2008 album which would also include F.U.N.K.

Recording Personnel
  • Prince - All vocals and instruments (assumed)
  • Other recording personnel not known.
