Thanks for the info. That song is so amazing,it should have been released in some form or another....maybe as a B-side to one of the 1999 or Purple Rain singles.

if U don't stop the groove,Xtralovable beat will tell your body what 2 do headbang

It was... many times, only 30 years later (I think we have at least 5 official versions, studio and live, now)

yeah, but I think it should have been released back in the day, when it would have made a real impact. Can you imagine this song as the B-side to "Little Red Corvette"?! That would have been the hottest Prince 12" single!

Possibly, IDK, I like it but it's not my fave outtake so IDK, obviously it's very popular among fans so I guess it would have been praised as a b-side. The controversial lyrics could have been detrimental to prince's reputation, though.

controversial lyrics are what made Prince's reputation.

hmmm I'm sorry....but I'm just gonna have to rape you

I actually think that,in 1983,Prince would have gotten away with those lyrics.

Nowadays,in these politically correct times,he would be cruccified for singing something like that lol

Actually if sang by Vanity 6 this line would have talen a whole new meaning, but feminists already existed back then so at least them would have crucified him. Now yeah maybe he could have gotten away with it but I think he somehow was always attached to keeping a feminist image, or at least an image of someone respecting women. Some of his released lyrics could surely be interpretated as macho, but most of those he kept for The Time, and anyway seemingly endorsing rape would have taken things to another level entirely. I don't think he would ever have released it as such at the time, at least not sang by him or another man. Now it'd be different if released on an outtakes collection, as it would be offered as a song "recorded for personal use only" and liner notes could even manage to give it a feminist color by stating it was originally intended as a V6 song, but back then IDK, I think every once in a while someone would have picked up that line and used it against him and it'd probably last to this day.
