Which is a more classic Prince pop album? My vote goes to Diamonds & Pearls.

I can't remember the last time I listened to either, but probably.

I think D&P is more cohesive, but has better tracks.

Diamonds And Pearls seems a more focused and cohesive album.

seems a bit more patchy. The running order doesn't
quite seem to 'flow' right. It probably sounded okay
when it had all the segues on, but without them, some
of the tracks don't seem to sit well next to each other.

Still, in the overall scape of Prince's output and capabilities, I think they both suck.

Both were are pretty Average at Best to me.I'd say the Symbol Because He was trying to Groove a little bit.D&P was to Polished&Sounded Desperate to Appeal IMHO.both are Vastly Over-Produced IMHO but Symbol had a Couple of Decent tracks IMHO.

Symbol sucks the big one! I have always fuckin hated that album and always will. The only track I really like on Symbol is 7. Where as D&P I like most of it.

Diamonds and Pearls is more of a "pop album" and more mainstream, and more focused and cohesive.

However, Symbol blows it out of the water with stronger material, more exciting and imaginative vocals and instrumentation. Symbol album all the way...

Symbol is a much better album, D&P is lite-pop... 'And God Created Woman' is ten times better than anything on D&P! SYMBOL!

has better material on it - in general - but the structure and the sequence of the album is a mess.

I would have cut The Flow, The Max (atrocious song) and Arrogance completely. Cut the stupid segues.

Two REALLY bad albums with some GREAT tracks.

I love 'em both, but wins. The Max, Eye Wanna Melt with U, and Continental are three of his best funky songs, and Damn U is my favorite of his slow jams. He totally nails it when he sings "my psychedelic shouts." Love the reggae on Blue Light as well.
