. . Even Multimillionaires will take peoples money to fund things no one wants to take a financial risk if it can be avoided. He wouldnt want to use his own money to finance production/distribution of Vinyl/cd's for something that will potentially flop and leave him out of pocket if he was going to do that and be at no financial gain he could just put it out for free as a download. Very few artists will fund things like that themselves that's why they sign to lables, the labels will fund all of that plus tours etc... Although he has money he wont want to end up out of pocket himself. . I mean come on, he's charging $25 for people to go to Paisley this weekend and listen to a handful of songs if he felt he had the money to spare he would cover that himself, say 150 people turn up $3750 is pocket change yet he wouldnt cover it, he wants people to listen to his music and is charging them for the pleasure.

i mean people want an something presented as an album. A finished, uncut, nicely packaged artistic statement. I think it's a little disingenuous to act like there's no difference between that kind of album-package and a bunch of singles released online over the span of years.

The feeling u get with new album brings more life to the songs on it somehow. I have put together some of the best songs released by Prince since last year and tried hard to get that album feeling, but its such a wierd mix that it doesn't feel like an "album", manliy cuz they're all from different prodjects. I will say though, that I believe "20Ten" is DEFINITELY an album, and when listened to from start to finish, it shines IMO.

Wu Tang Clan have revealed plans to manufacture and release a brand new double album, 'The Wu – Once Upon A Time In Shaolin', in a limited edition of one. The album will be sold in an engraved silver-and-nickel box created by British-Moroccan artist Yahya and bearing the group's W insignia. It is expected to come with a multi-million dollar price tag, reports Forbes. "We're about to sell an album like nobody else sold it before," said RZA. "We're about to put out a piece of art like nobody else has done in the history of [modern] music. We're making a single-sale collector's item. This is like somebody having the sceptre of an Egyptian king." The band also plan to take the album on a "tour" of museums, galleries and festivals, where they will charge between $30-$50 (£18 to £30) to view and listen to the album. The listening sessions will take place behind heavy security and will use headphones provided by the venue, to prevent the album leaking. The album's main producer, Tarik 'Cilvaringz' Azzougarh, says the Wu-Tang have discussed London's Tate Modern as a possible venue for the exhibition. The group first met Morocco-based Cilvaringz at a show in Amsterdam in 1997, and he has been an affiliate of the collective ever since. Once the 31-track, 128-minute album has done the rounds, it will be available to purchase for a price "in the millions" of dollars. It is speculated that a label could buy the album and release it through the usual channels. "The idea that music is art has been something we advocated for years," RZA said. "And yet it doesn’t receive the same treatment as art in the sense of the value of what it is, especially nowadays when it’s been devalued and diminished to almost the point that it has to be given away for free." “I know it sounds crazy,” Cilvaringz said. "It might totally flop, and we might be completely ridiculed. But the essence and core of our ideas is to inspire creation and originality and debate, and save the music album from dying." The long-promised 20th anniversary album, 'A Better Tomorrow', is still set for a standard commercial release this summer. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Actually, sounds like a good idea to me...tour with a single copy, charge nominal fees (all profit) until you're bored, then sell it to the record company (for millions), who will distribute it to recoup their investment. I wish this theory made sense because that would be much cooler. They've already implied it was a traditional release however.

Prince isn't releasing shit until he's been reassured by 7000 synchophants that his new album is better than Purple Rain. So what you have to do is is get the exact tally of attendees at these listening parties, estimate the number of azz-kissing synchophants participating (probably all them because who else ain't got nothing better to do than drive to Minnesotta on a Sat night), multiply that by the number of listening parties and you will begin to have an idea when this shit is going to drop. I remember when peeps were demanding the release date of the Bria record and Mayte's album. Some folks really wanted Prince to produce a Scrap D album.

in all honesty, that idea has scared me!
i'll never be able to go to a listening party probably ever! because i'm here in england and Paisley Park is over in America, and the same goes for touring unless he does the £70 down to £10 thing again.
for now, you and i can only iMAGiNE what the album and its sound is like. and i don't know about y'all, but i would die for it to be released like now. eye dont think U heard me . . .

They must be going for the nineteenth different configuration already, just to make room for the last week's brand new track. That's nothing new in Prince's world. That's how we never got The Dream Factory.

CB never managed 100,000 preorders. Sevenmag debunked that back in the days of the PPML. And those preorder numbers were only used to entice a regular distributor. © Bart Van Hemelen

P is simply waging a PR war. All this nonsense about not wanting to release it because of MP3 compression etc is to hide the truth - Warners do not want to release it, yet. . 3EG isn't the "new" P album. That's a different one. Please read Jon Bream's listening party article. . P on the other hand is all about the here and now and wants people focussing on Plectrum Electrum. . Which is at least six months old. © Bart Van Hemelen

. We already know 3EG is not the album WB were going to release. Jon Bream reported on TWO albums for his listening party, one of them was a Prince album. . My guess is that P wanted to independently release the 3EG record now before the onslaught of the PR Deluxe + whatever new P album this Fall, only to discover that there's an exclusivity clause. . Also note that the Kobalt deal went nowhere. Wouldn't surprise me if they were presented with the 3EG some time ago and rejected it. © Bart Van Hemelen

If only he would have listened to what trax and lstenSzek said we would all be alot happier. Its like he got his name back around by making TV appearances, made headlines by signing back with Warners and made up all this hype, then everything just paused for a moment. It would have been a perfect time to release SOMETHING, at least. . Once the WB deal was in place, nothing was going to be released unless WB gives the nod. . Prince had plenty of chances to release the 3EG record, it just seems like nobody wanted to pay the advance he was demanding. © Bart Van Hemelen
