Hot Tub Time Machine So let's say you had the ability to go back in time to witness any one event in history involving Prince. What would you choose? A specific concert? Aftershow? Party? Basketball game & pancakes?
After much thought I would have to say for me it would be the 1st Avenue 83 concert where he played most of the Purple Rain tracks for the first time.

'86 birthday gig. "We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

The August 3rd 1983 show gets my vote too, just to see all those songs debuted and of course him doing the living shit out of Electric Intercourse, particularly that scream. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I was there. In Detroit Joe Louis Arena. I live in Detroit.
I would go back into time to witness the 1984 Birthday rehearsal concert. I still say, musically, that was Prince's best performance ever! I would be on cloud 9, witnessing the 19 minute live version of "Neon Rendezvous".

I would first learn to impersonate Larry Graham and then go back to before Prince met larry, leave a message on Prince's answerphone as if from Larry himself stating: "You short, untalented, good-for-nothing! Leave me alone and do not ever try and contact me!". . I would then skip forward back to the here-and-now and enjoy purchasing all the great new albums that would have miraculously appeared, profanity included.

That's funny right there. Be interesting to be a fly on the wall during some of the conversations P must have had with WB when things went bad.

I was at the 8-3-83 show!! So glad I got to see that. Of course it would be cool to get in a time machine and go see it again with the full understanding of how historic it was!!

First thing that popped into my mind. Ouch!! Painfull! If it makes ya feel any better when Lovesexy reached London I was 15 yrs old, had just left home, didn't have a penny... that first night he played I was feeling very sorry for myself I can laugh now. My Mum bought me tickets for the London SOTT gig, it woulda been my first P gig... it got cancelled. I made up for it tho when Nude came to town - 9 gigs! yeah, I was there. I had some crappy seats though, lol. Now the Newpowersoul Fest Concert, is when I had some great seats! I could smack the stage with my hand. I also snuck in the VIP section at the after party. I also snuck a great picture of Prince and Mayte. I got the picture enlarged and lamenated with my ticket and afterparty pass. Here it go:

Thanx my fellow Prince orgers 4 the kind words. It was both exciting, and scary. It was exciting to be within hand-shaking feet of Prince, but it was scary, because I could had been thrown out at any moment (since I didn't really belong in the VIP section). It was like one of those old mentos candy commercials. lol, anyway Prince stayed for 3 hours, but did not perform at the afterparty. They showed the whole Cafe de Paris concert, and Doug E Fresh was the only one that performed live. I was ok with that since I already seen Prince in concert earlier that night, but others in attendance was pretty pist off about it. Well since I was lucky enough to not get discovered, I decided to press my lucky further by taking a picture of Prince as he was leaving the club.....as the photo above proves, I lucked out again. It was a beautiful night. [Edited 7/31/14 21:41pm]
