Why did Prince mix his voice so high in the mix on the records he produced?

Its not that i dont like it.I do and i find it amusing that when you listen first album by The Time you can hear Princes singing lead lines together with Morris and sometimes it sounds like Morris is the back vox to Prince.Why did he mixed his voice so high if he didnt want people to know that its his side project.Was it about the ego or he wasnt sure if Morris can pull it off?

Tongue in cheek private joke most likely, just like If A Girl Answers (Don't Hang Up). Possible also just that the songs sounded better that way.

Most people wouldn't even recognize his voice at this time anyway, it's not like they were looking 4 it. How many pple even guessed that he was doing that female voice on the phone in 82? Not too many I think.
