It's definitely out there.

all I can say is this is one of the most beautiful tracks he's done for that era, and pretty much any era. Definitely hearkens back to the "crucial" vibe. Great guitar and those vocals... harmonies are extraordinary. His ability to compose harmonies is effortless (esp. in those days).

an A+ in the pantheon of Prince music.

For some reason I never much liked Crucial, but when I finally hear Adonis and Bathsheba, I'll be able to ascertain if this has anything to do with Prince's notorious bath fetish. Bath she... hmmmm.

So great to read so many positive remarks about this truly brilliant song.

The sad part though is, that I haven't witnessed such an overall positive vibe among orgers concerning Prince's recent (maybe since the release of LotusFlow3r now 5 years ago!) musical output.

Great music and arrangement (as I would expect from 1986 Prince). Not mad on the OTT vocals and lyrics, too many vocal tracks, with the end effect being imo overly sappy.

Still great to have in full though . I'm not one of those who is majorly down on modern Prince music, but this track does make you wonder whatever happened to 'that' Prince and wish we could have him back, or his modern equivalent at least. He must still be in there somewhere .

It's because the song is actually pretty awesome. I really don't believe that there's a bunch of haters here, like others want to "point out". People really just want good music. It is pretty sad that a Prince scrap from his peak era pretty much clobbers anything he's recently put out though. I am [almost] for certain that NOTHING on "Plec Elec" will be as satisfying as this track is.

What a fantastic song; it's as if he could do no wrong back in that era...

When I first heard the snippet of this song years ago, I wasn't very impressed. I had to download it after hearing all the praise for the full version. My opinion has changed! I love the lyrics. The imagery is gorgeous! Two lovers, seemingly on their way to a clandestine rendezvous, so anxious to be together, their passion is near tipping point ("Bathsheba crying, Adonis, sweat upon his face...") as they are running to the gazebo. I love it!


I like the time of the melody, though I agree the guitar solo is not mind-blowing, it's still pretty.

My husband, who is a musician, just shrugged his shoulders when I played the song for him. He couldn't understand the lyrics and thought the arrangement was messy and the whole song was cluttered.
