It's definitely out there.
all I can say is this is one of the most beautiful tracks he's done for that era, and pretty much any era. Definitely hearkens back to the "crucial" vibe. Great guitar and those vocals... harmonies are extraordinary. His ability to compose harmonies is effortless (esp. in those days).
an A+ in the pantheon of Prince music.

This song sounds like it was inspired by Smokey Robertson's "Ohh Baby Baby"

Smokey Robinson. There is a Robbie Robertson though.
For some reason I never much liked Crucial, but when I finally hear Adonis and Bathsheba, I'll be able to ascertain if this has anything to do with Prince's notorious bath fetish. Bath she... hmmmm.

The song has had almost universal acclaim on the org. When was the last time that happened. Not even the Glorious Go got the praise Adonis and Bathsheba has.

1985-1986 there was just so much amazing music made and we luckily have a whole heap of it. With unreleased songs and non album songs you could fill at least two full cd's. Off the top of my head the only crappy sounding song from what we have is In a large room. We need that to circulate in better quality and Everybody want and Cosmic Day in full.

So great to read so many positive remarks about this truly brilliant song. The sad part though is, that I haven't witnessed such an overall positive vibe among orgers concerning Prince's recent (maybe since the release of LotusFlow3r now 5 years ago!) musical output.

I'm surprised by the number of otherwise very active orgers that haven't bothered to comment on this thread. Maybe if they can't find anything negative to say they rather not say anything at all.? The wooh is on the one!

Is cosmic day the next on to be freed? Or will it be "everybody want they don't got" I have a sneaky suspicion it's right around the corner! Waiting in anticipation. BYW A GREAT BIG THANK YOU WHI FREEED THIS GEM. Susan Rogers was way wrong lol!

It's because the song is actually pretty awesome. I really don't believe that there's a bunch of haters here, like others want to "point out". People really just want good music. It is pretty sad that a Prince scrap from his peak era pretty much clobbers anything he's recently put out though. I am [almost] for certain that NOTHING on "Plec Elec" will be as satisfying as this track is. الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

I also thought we would never get to hear Adonis and Bathsheba. I still have to pinch myself when listening to it. It's like a dream. Such a great great song, it could well be in my top 10 ever. one thing I have noticed is that the rythmn track is very similar to The Question Of U.

Excellent. Thank you so much for posting this. The layout of these lyrics reminds me of the Crystal Ball lyrics website. Walking alone in the dark, I see nothing u see

Meh. There, I said it. Don't even know what's supposed to be so great about the guitar solo. Like the vocals, though. Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

Melodically very poor and too little references to the music surrounding it. The contrast would have been a good idea, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Nevertheless: except for the guitar solo I do like the song. [Edited 7/27/14 15:49pm]

So glad this leak has seen the llight of day. I assume that 128kbps is the best resolution we currently have?

When I first heard the snippet of this song years ago, I wasn't very impressed. I had to download it after hearing all the praise for the full version. My opinion has changed! I love the lyrics. The imagery is gorgeous! Two lovers, seemingly on their way to a clandestine rendezvous, so anxious to be together, their passion is near tipping point ("Bathsheba crying, Adonis, sweat upon his face...") as they are running to the gazebo. I love it! My husband, who is a musician, just shrugged his shoulders when I played the song for him. He couldn't understand the lyrics and thought the arrangement was messy and the whole song was cluttered.

People don't seem to realise that this is a Prince "left over" track. It didn't make the cut for a reason. I'm celebrating that it's a great unreleased track. NOT that it's as good as anything he's released. But even as a demo, it's still more exciting than any recent releases.
