This is absolutely brilliant.
Agreed with paulludvig - like a cross between Crucial and Alexa De Paris.
Listening on my big speakers..... this is heavenly.... Absolutely brilliant. That guitar solo.... wow!!! |

It's at several different searchable sites right now. Everybody that wants it should have it pretty soon.
I love this track. It kind of reminds me of Slow Love and it has that Alexa de Paris guitar tone. Rad. Chili Sauce.

It's fantastic! One of those types songs that leave you thinking, "Nobody but Prince." "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

That's probably it. therapy time.
yeah right....
Fact is I had this before the higher majority of folks, but that doesn't make me elite in any way. I've withheld it, and will continue to do so, out of obligation as my word is strong. I never felt "special" like you would believe. Priviledged? Yes, but better? No.
I'm glad that maany others can now hear this song because it is so beautiful. And as it makes the rounds even more can hear it.
Now, for those who have it I have one simple question:
Was Susan Rogers wrong?

Yesss....only Prince can make a song like this! ))))

It is a strange little track. I like it....I just don't no why. It has whole parts that sound messy, incoherent and out of place. Princestyle.
It has indeed the footprint of "Crucial" all over it. But also a bit of "Adore" and has rings of "Power Fantastic" and "A Place in heaven"
It is just one of these lost gems from his most productive period.
Great to have it. "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." - Carl Sagan

Now after months of somewhat for me uninteresting related P news, this is a thing I really would like to have.
Unfortunately googleing I can find nothing at all.

Was anyone ever more adept at communicating pure sex than Prince? This song just sounds like pure sex, and yet doesn't sound dirty. Also is it in 6/8 time? "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

The time signature is really interesting! Also the way the lyrics sort of slinks around the almost waltz like beat. The wooh is on the one!

I fail so hard at this these days.
*edit* Ok, I got better. Listening now. Didn't like the snippet much so not too excited.
*edit2* Meh. Guitar is good. If this was unheard and released today the familiar faces would be saying over produced Prince by the numbers, done 100 times before etc. It's ok.
Where's Plectrum Electrum?

. That sums it up competently, yes. Would have made a great album track (it's a bit too weird for a single). © Bart Van Hemelen

Susan was way wrong. He had so much strong material at the time, so I understand it not making the SOTT album, but it's better than:
It's Gonna Be A Long Long Long Beautiful Somewhat Boring Night It Hot Thing
I see the song as a cross between Adore and Crucial with better guitar, since the guitar part builds and soars for nearly the last 3 minutes of the song.
But remember, lots of people in the industry HAVE NO CLUE WHAT A GOOD SONG IS.
Well known examples:
"Thirteen Women (and Only One Man in Town)" This was supposed to be some big hit for Bill Haley. The B-Side? Some piece of crap song they didn't care about called "Rock Around The Clock," that became the biggest selling single in history until "We Are The World" in 1985. It became a hit by some DJ playing the wrong side of the 45.
"Push It" Salt N Pepa...this song was so awful it didn't even make their album...so they discarded it to the B-Side to "Tramp." A DJ started playing it in Miami, and it became their signature song of their career.
And Prince? You could come with a billion examples
"Jughead" making an album while the original "Old Friends 4 Sale", "Moonbeam Levels," and oountless other songs were rotting in the vault.
Adonis And Batsheba is just another great song Prince could care less about. A shame.

Out of curiosity, what did Susan Rogers say about this one, I've never read her impressions of it. I must say that I think that this would be a slightly odd fit on SOTT, it feels a bit too out there for that album, which to me is a bit more poppier than the majority of 1986 stuff. I could definitely see it on Dream Factory though, indeed the whole song has a very lush, pleasantly dreamy quality about it, which really chimes in with the theme of that album, IMO. Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

I can't get to it now. But for a long time I had mock up cover art for the song credited to o)+> as a discarded single perhaps from the mid 90's. I was told it was real a long time ago but I cannot 100% confirm that. Does anyone else have this image.

I just hope you don't have "Bart Van Halen" disease where you absolutely hate every single track no matter what...where you no longer "listen" to new music, but just "hear" it. There's a huge difference.
If you can't like The Dance, Fury, Reflection, Call My Name, A Million Days, Future Soul Song....then maybe you should move on...but I hope not.
And I do think a lot of those with access to the rare tracks want to be important, but some have been warned about leaking...but it's really difficult for me to understand why someone would hoard the tracks, so I'm torn on the issue.

It will never be a sticky because the site moderators are likely protecting the site by being over cautious describing anything considered a bootleg, even though the bootleg market has been drying up due to file sharing, and older fans no longer throwing money at it...
It will also never be a sticky, because I created the original thread. No matter what posts I have done, I am apparently not in the group of people allowed to have stickys I remember starting a thread about tour dates 10 or so years ago, only to have my thread locked, and re-directed to a thread with a timestamp created 45 min after mine...but since I don't have to be the first to report stuff, I guess I shouldn't be so bitter, lol.
