I don't think it's P.Control.
I thought it was Love Sign - they wouldn't let him release that as a single because TMBGITW was a one off. Love Sign was a *single*, it would have done really, really well. I know a lot of people who know that song from seeing the video on MTV and thought it was great. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I thought the lyrics were:
Told 'em he wanted 2 sing a song about a black child goin' buck wild And they just laughed in his face Talk 2 your lawyer but U got no case What U need 2 do is keep your place Next time U pull a card, it better be a ace motherfucker Or U can lay face down (face down!) I heard somewhere that an executive at Warners said Prince was incapable of producing another hit, and the next day he wrote "The Most Beautiful Girl" and put it out independently which was of course a massive hit. (hence the 'next time U pull a card, it better be an ace bit - of course he did pull an ace!) After that Prince wanted to put out 'Get Wild' and the Exodus album independently, but Warners put their foot down and said under any name he was still working for them and the album still had to be a Warners album. (Hence the 'buck wild' and 'talk 2 your lawyer' bits). Correct me if I'm wrong.

Lovesign, i dont know if peeps would've done big with that one. Maybe the remix (that appeared on Crystal Ball). Whn I played Lovesign remix 2 people in school, they really liked it. P is still in everyway capable of makin da hitz, but im glad he's not commercializing himself no mo Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I personally believe this part of Face Down concerns Warners refusal to release GoldNigga, the concept(ish) record which personifies and attempts to ratify the bitches and bucks element of a tiny minority of African American males whilst also hitting out at how record companies treat the African American race as a second class people.
The "next time u pull a card it betta be an ace" refers to the pressure WB were putting P under following the success of D&P to follow it up with a similar commercial sound. He gave them GoldNigga as a follow up, but according to numerous sourses, three high -ranking WB suits laughed in his face as he played it to them. Hence, the madness that followed which buried his commercial career once and (quite possibly) for all. [This message was edited Mon Sep 15 15:14:08 PDT 2003 by Number23]
