BTW Im highly dubious of the fact that these two dated. I personally think Madonna is a much too forceful character for Prince. In 1985 she was engaged to Sean Penn and he was seeing Susannah Melvoin. In 1988 she was still married to Sean Penn, and Prince was seeing Kim Basinger.
Personally I think the extent of their relationship was the co-write (love Song) and the snippets of music P played on the Like A Prayer album. We can specualte all we like but at the end of the day, I really dont think it amounted to more than that. Prince definitely DID NOT write Like A Prayer, and I really dont think they slept together.

There was a strong connection between Madonna and Prince through late 1985 up until 1990.
I think its fairly well known that Sean Penn shot a picture of Prince during a disagreement he had with Madonna whilst they were married. I doubt they were ever friends as such (definitely not lovers), but they were acquaintances. The first strong link to Madonna was through Mary Lambert whom directed a number of Madonna's videos in the 80s and was due to direct "Under The Cherry Moon" before Prince sacked her and did the job himself. Does anybody have a full transcript of the open letter Prince published for Madonna? I had a copy once, but the nearest I can find online are these excerpts: http://www.eonline.com/Ne...95,00.html I know he was deadly serious but it was very, very funny.

Just a little FYI...
How Ingrid and Lenny hooked up wasn't through Prince. He was recording an album and met her somewhere through that experience (it was just after his Let Love Rule came out). They ended up having an affair while he was married to Lisa Bonet and he wrote the song with her. Where her name was left off the credits was largely due to the fact that Lenny didn't want Lisa to find out he was having anything to do with this woman (Ingrid), so he kept her name off the song. Madonna heard it not too long later, liked it, re-worked it a bit with Lenny and then recorded it with him producing it and doing background vocals. Even at that point, Lenny still made no mention of Ingrid having any involvement due to trying to not get caught by his wife. It failed nonetheless and they seperated not long after (whether this was because she found out or what - I'm not sure...). Anyhow, Ingrid took Lenny to court after the song was released and actually won a huge pile of $$. The judge ruled in her favor and Lenny admitted it was because he was trying to hide his relationship with her from his then wife. That's how the whole Ingrid-Lenny-Madonna 'Justify My Love' thing happened...

Gainsbourg, did you know that Prince actually wrote MOST of Whitney Houstons songs, and that Bobby 'the Pope' Brown is actually one of his alter-egos.

Prince wrote LAP because on the single sleeve are two sets of initials: MVC for Madonna and P for Prince. That proves it outright. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

No,the "P" is actually for Pat,as in Pat Leonard He was Madonna's producer in those days.

btw, I love the guitar at the start of the video. That must be him!! No,Prince did NOT write the song "Like A Prayer".Madonna wrote and composed it with her producer Pat Leonard. She explained it in a 1989 interview with Song Talk magazine... "It just came out of my head.Pat had the chord changes for the verse and the chorus. We hadn't written the bridge yet.I really wanted to do something really gospel-oriented and a capella, with virtually no instrumentaion, just my voice and an organ. So we started fooling around with the song, and we'd take away all the instrumentation so that my voice was naked. Then we came up with the bridge together, and we had the idea to have a choir". When the song was nearly finished, they asked Prince to contribute guitar.Apparently,he was so impressed with it that he recorded his own cover version, which remains in the vaults. See?
