Crystal Ball - chronological order playlist?

Has anyone compiled a list of the released Crystal Ball songs in chronological order of recording? I've made a playlist chronological by year, but the songs within each year are in no specific order. I'd really like to listen to the contents of the three discs this way. Can anyone help? Thanks.

The only problem with listening to the album this way is that it kicks off with Cloreen Baconskin. ill

Go to Princevault.com it may be some work, but you can use the A-Z song list to look up each track and take an educated guess. Some may be a little out of order, but since most of the CB tracks are 90's things, it's not too hard to do this.

Yeah it blows hard. I get why it is important in Prince history because that session produced some classic tracks but putting that 15 mins on there in place of All My Dreams or Moonbeams in just insane, I would've preferred an actual song instead of a jam, would've been better as an actual bootleg.

I was so glad to hear "Cloreen Baconskin" the first time I put on that CD. I thought it was genius to put something that raw, crazy and long on the album, and it's a complete contrast with something I would never listen to much or be very interested in like "Goodbye". It also was proof that Prince could go in and just improvise somethign that sounded really unique, strong, and completely addictive (to my ears, I know there's a lot of people on here who prefer a traditional proper song like "Goodbye").

I remember going to LA to visit a friend that worked on special effects on blockbuster movies, experiencing the last minute cancelled Jam of the Year concert that very night I landed. I had burned a CD with a few of the tracks from Crystal Ball, but the only one he really kept replaying over and over was "Cloreen Baconskin". It got to be a joke, we would be listening to something else like Crystal Ball or Moviestar... and he would quietly hit the button and skip back to start Cloreen Baconskin.

I still listen to that track loud in the car. It sounds wicked.

"Tell Me How U Wanna B Done"‡ - 3:16 (recorded january 1992)

"Strays of the World" - 5:07 (recorded may 1993)

"What's My Name" - 3:04 (recorded may 1993)

"Da Bang" - 3:20 (recorded 1994-1995)

"Poom Poom" - 4:32 (recorded summer 1995)

"The Ride" (Live) - 5:14 (recorded 29 october 1995)

"Days of Wild" (Live) - 9:20 (recorded 9 december 1995)

"She Gave Her Angels" - 3:53 (recorded spring 1996)
---

It's interesting to look at it in this light. He ignored some of his most fruitful periods - 82-83, 89-90, and obviously favored the Gold Experience-era. Not a bad thing, but with 30 tracks, he could've peppered some other years in there. Oh well!

Didn't you ever hear Tricky by The Time?? B-side of the Jungle Love single.

Pretty much the same track, but released in 84.

The Peach and Black review of the album actually did examine the individual songs in chronological order, at least for the tracks from the 80s. I guess you could listen to it in order to find out the correct sequence for your playlist, might take a while though! smile Princevault is probably your best bet, will probably be a bit laborous, and I think there might not be enough information about recording dates for you to assemble a definitive chronological order, but it's worth a shot.

I heard Tricky too, yes! But there's something more appealing to me about Cloreen Baconskin's particular mix of that soft tone but agressively played bass and the natural drums.

Great job but the version of Goodbye here isn't the one from 91, it's the reworked one from 95. Some other songs may also have been upgraded a bit after original recording date but too lazy 2 check wink

prince offers us a work in progress gem that should never have gotten out of the vault with Cloreen Baconskin and the same people who'd have paid a fortune for getting it on a crappy sounding bootleg 5 years earlier complain that it gets an official release on a 3 CD set. I'll never understand some of y'all guys. Cloreen Baconskin was a hell of a gift to us fans, we should appreciate it, I sure do.

I agree with Databank, in this case.. wink

And, yes I admit it: I like listening to Cloreen Baconskin.... a raw unfinished song..... I like it a lot.. boxed

in staed, to me those remixes is a waste of space on Crystal Ball.... Lovesign, Loose, Pussy Control..... those aren't good, imo. I very much prefer the original versions...

lol

I'm sure Prince understood it would not appeal to everyone and that's most likely the reason why it's placed at the end of the disc. You can either listen to iit all the way or just press stop and switch the CD.
