I'm a 19 year old guy and the same height and build as Prince so the fact that these would fit me makes them even more desirable! lol lol

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

Why doesnt she just sell them to a museum or something? If I were wealthy, I would probably buy one of these outfits, especially the gold one because I remember him wearing that once or twice.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Museum has no Prince items. It would have been cool if something had gone there.

Yeah..she would probably get more money selling to a museum instead of selling to the general public. But hey, who knows, maybe there are some extremely wealthy P fans out there who REALLY want his clothes. Sounds impossible to me but I wish Mayte luck.

I think this stuff on eBay is after Mayte sold them to "fans". I think they are the ones who put them out there.

I wonder who will buy these...

Who ever it is will have money to throw away. Omg though, I can't believe the blue rave era outfit is up for sale. I never even knew she had that one.

I often wonder what Prince thinks of this though. Some randomer having all his old clothes like some form of weird (very expensive) charity/thrift shop gettup.

I thought those metal brackets under the heel were for support, but the rave outfit mentions a slider is missing and indeed one of the brackets is gone from a shoe.

Is that a slider, and as the name suggests would that help him dance somehow?

Cool, but what's up with the condition of all the shoes in the collection? They're all beat to shit. What'd he do...go hiking with them? I know she says "wear and tear" from being used "on stage". But c'mon. Where was the stage located...in a rock quarry?

She was shown on Hollywood exes selling them to a Beverly hills collectibles person for a seemingly sizable figure. Mayte was impressed. It wasn't a fan.

Not really. Museums typically wait for donations from the artist or their estate, and pay a modest honorarium. They sometimes overpay with obscure artists where the market isn't established, but they rarely ever go after an auction item at top dollar. Maybe if it's an Elvis or Janis Joplin item. None of these are iconic instantly recognizable outfits though. A museum would want the yellow stage outfit with the butt cut out from the MTV Awards, or a 1999/Purple Rain trench coat, not the Rave cover costume (average person doesn't even know that record exists, honestly), or a random outfit he wore. His Versace outfits would probably be more likely to get aqcuired, but that's more about Versace.

That's what's got me worried too. Sure, Prince can't store everything he ever used (then again, he has got Paisley Park), but if that's really the outfit he used on an album cover and in a live performance that was taped and broadcast and sold on home video... You'd think that was an outfit with some significant history worth hanging on to.

.

Consdidering the reports we've had in the past about him not taking good care of the recordings in the vault...

Haha, I was talking about this to my boyfriend on the phone, last night. He suggested that the only person crazy enough and with enough money to buy these items would be Prince himself lol
Then he did an impression that went something like this:
*Prince is browsing EBay under the prince tag*
We all know how much clothes Prince has had, and surely he must of forgot he owned some...
"Oh wow! That's really cool...wait...have I worn something like this before?? Nah! I can't of!" *proceeds to bid outrageous amounts of money*

I wonder if it would sell faster if the outfits smelled like Prince or had some light skid marks on them.

I'm thinking that he made more than 1 of the Rave outfit like he did with the Purple Rain album cover outfit. (Probably 1 to peform in and 1 for pictures?)

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I honestly find it pathetic that she sells it: does she really need money? Alright in an another hand, she needs to get rid of this stuff. As someone told it, she should try to sell it to the forthcoming Hard Rock cafe in Minneapolis (Mall Of America).... sad
