reasons why prince is better guitar player then jimi hendrix im a guitar player.
my favourite guitar players are prince, jimi hendrix, frank zappa, george benson, stenly jordan ,santana and others. i read some discusions abut how jimi is better guitar player then prince. people get over it. jimi invented the way rock guitar should be played , but after him we got many great guitar heros that are better then jimi hendrix. jimi hendrix was very sloppy rhythm guitar player. prince is great rhythm guitar player. many times jimi was great but also his solos were unispired, he had often used only e pentatonic blues scale. prince use many diffrent exotic scales. jimi hendrix was great rock guitar player.but he mastered rock he wasnt playing jazz or something like that. prince played many diffrent styles on his guitar i heard him play rock, funk, jazz, even country guitar. and all of that genres he playes like it are his primarly music styles. jimi hendrix wasnt tehniqly great.good yes but not great. prince's picking leggato are much much better then jimi hendrix. jimi hendrex rarely played clean notes.most of the time he played very dirty . prince playes dirty only when he wants to but he mostly playes clear notes. jimi hendrix had a problem creating melodys, which isn't the case of prince. ok yes jimi died at the age of 27.he would developed his playing if he had a chance but 4 example prince's solo on why you wanna treat me so bad is much better and cleaner and very fluent solo.its better then any jimi hendrix guitar solo. and prince was 20 at that time. of course guitar playing would never b like it is if it wasnt for jimi hendrix. but that is where he is great. jimi hendrix was inovator. and jimi hendrix never ever played as good as prince did on joy in repetition live from nyc. i rest my case.

i still don't agree.
prince is amazingly brilliant, technically better in many respects, but hendrix had something organic, barely tamed and pure that that prince doesn't. prince's playing is brilliant, but it is closer to zappa's than hendrix's...it is more about modes, yes, but it lacks that lyrical, tender, sweet blues quality that made hendrix, like coltrane, so special. i also disagree that hendrix had trouble with melodies! this is a ridiculous claim. in the space of 4 albums Hendrix covered melodic and songwriting ground that Prince took many years to build up to. At the age of 44, I think it can be said that Prince has achieved the same greatness of Hendrix, muscially...but get them in seperate studios at the same age, say, 27 and Hendrix will put together a more cohesive album with more inspired guitar playing than Prince, I must say. I say all of this, even though Prince and Hendrix are EQUALLY my favourite musicians. I just think that on guitar, Hendrix is that little bit more special. . AT AGE OF 20 PRINCE DID THAT I WANNA B YOUR LOVER SOLO. its better than any jimi hendrix solo. better phrasing.more fluent.tehniqly better. i love jimi hendrix very much but i must b objectiove. whic melodys are you talking bro? the best melodys by jimi is little wing, the begining of burning the midnate lamp, wind cryies marry. brutha most of his melodies are very simular. e blues pentatonic is his formula.

i listen to all of hendrix stuff,i watched all of his videos i even have jimis noodling on electric guitar without band.
u people cant realise some things like santa c. doesnt exist. bruce lee wasnt the best kung fu master ever and jimi hendrix wasnt the best guitar player ever. get over it. he was great but there are many other guitar player who are better then jimi hendrix. he gave 'em roots of modern guitar playing and they developed it.

there is somethin seriously, seriously, seriously wrong with this statement. when u figure it out, lemme know. yes, jimi died at the age of 27. he would have developed his playing if he had a chance[...]
(prince on "bandstand" voice) maybe. [...] but 4 example prince's solo on "why you wanna treat me so bad?" is much better and cleaner and very fluent solo. it's better than any jimi hendrix guitar solos.
puh-leeze!!! the solo on said song wuz aiight, but nowhere in the league of hendrix. not even close. and prince was 20 at that time.
exactly. he had a long way 2 go 2 perfect his technique. of course guitar playing would never be like it is if it wasn't for jimi hendrix.
if hendrix weren't around, i'm sure someone else would fit the bill. and jimi hendrix never ever played as good as prince did on joy in repetition live from nyc.
whatevs... i rest my case.

why dont ya all listen the last expiriance-last jimi hendrix concert and after that tell me how much he" improved him "self. he was better on jimi hendrix expiriance albums. he was master and i like him very much. but he isnt better guitar player then prince. and it would b wrong if some of you dont play guitar, because i dont want to discuss guitar playing with someone who didnt feel the thrill and joy when they play mean guitar solos. i bet half of you dont even know what is e blues pentatonic.

"the last experience" album that you speak of was actually kind of an uninspired performance by the man, i'll give you that. BUT... jimi's uninspired guitar solos will still cut prince's, i can guarantee you that. (coincidentally, since you claim to know so much about hendrix, you must know that the title to that album is technically wrong--it wasn't his last performance. that lp was cobbled together from some outtake performances to make a quick buck.) have you ever seen the undertaker video that prince did? looked cool, right? i thought it did. performance wise? prince on guitar seemed to... meander. he didn't really knock anyone's socks off, he was sloppy, missed some notes, became AWFULLY repetitive in his solos. my point is this:: i think that when you see prince take a solo in a concert, it's not ONE BIT IMPROMPTU. it's kinda rehearsed as to where he's gonna go with it, how long it's gonna be... etc. (if you get a hold of rehearsal tapes, you will hear him play the same solo every time.) hendrix went out there with no idea how it was going to turn out. 8 times out of 10 he took you SOMEWHERE with it though!!! it's a different thing playing LIVE, as opposed to LIVE WITHOUT A NET!!! prince will never be HALF of what hendrix was guitar wise. $.02. --gm-- i....feel.... cold as a razorblade, tight as a tourniquet, dry as a funeral drum......

i take that back...
prince will never be 1/4 of what hendrix was guitar wise. now stop this stupid argument. $.02. --gm-- i....feel.... cold as a razorblade, tight as a tourniquet, dry as a funeral drum......

Hendrix has it over Him&it's a Tone that Jimi Brought to the Mix&Feel.I Dig Prince's Full Fusion Sound but He has to Play 4 Instruments to Bring what Jimi did with One IMHO.the Jazz Cats were Inspired by Jimi's Thang back in the late 60's Mid 70's as were the Funk bands,Metal Acts,Pop Acts,etc...Jimi whipped you Up on Record&On Stage.Jimi Showed Ernie Isley some things on the Axe&Ernie is a Badd Man on the Axe&I'd take Him over Prince as well on Guitar.Jesse Johnson was the baddest Guitar Player IMHO out of the Minneapolis Sound IMHO. mistermaxxx

You are saying it only because most people loved the solo from Joy in Repetition live. You probably want to remain "original" and "independent" in your opinions. I love the solo. I bet Prince wanted it to sound exactly like that and who are you to say whether it is a mess or not? Do you know more than Prince about gituar playing? Peace We Can Funk

i dont know what kind of problem you people have.
prince is faster then hendrix was. prince's leggato is much better then jimi's. prince picking is better then jimi's. prince rhythm guitar playing s superb in comparation with jimi hendrix. prince's knowladge of music theory is wider then jimi's. much wider. so tehniqly prince is much better player. maybe you like jimi more,or maybe all of you are afraid of that hendrix icon. and someone said that undertaker is mediocrite. what the f..k??? prince played very intersting things there, wide use of frigian modes and leggato and fast picking. aerosmith guitar player is mediocrite, eric clapton is mediocrite but prince definetly ain't.
