Could Prince work like Sting and produce a Broadway show? For starters, this is not intended as a who's better thread between the two, I am just curious as to if Prince could muster the will to write, score or be involved in producing an original Broadway show as Sting is currently doing. Mr. Sumner's show The Last Ship is not out yet but in the links provided you can read about it. For the record, I don't want Purple Rain: On Ice , I mean an original story, new music and choreography , production and all that's involved with a show. What are your thoughts?

He's tried dance-theater type stuff, and couldn't pull it off. Sting has worked as an actor on Broadway, in musicals, and knows the culture. Doubtful Prince could get past those gatekeepers... he's more likely to do a Vegas show. Can you imagine Grafiti Bridge done live? Yeah. I'll pass on that too.

I know of Kamasutra - not the book - and its failure but would he be willing to try again? I know either a new movie or play are much more work now, especially original material so would it be worth the effort? Jeux Sans Frontiers

He was in talks about developing a show with David Henry Hwang. I would have loved to seen tha., Solo came out of those talks. Hwang has written about the experience, it's too bad the project never made it to the stage. "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

A Prince show could be amazing if there was true collaboration with a real director and script writer. มีเพียงความว่างเปล่า 只有空虚 Dim ond gwacter 만 공허함이있다 唯一の虚しさがあります There is only the void.

He was working with David Henry Hawg and has collaborated with other musicians the whole of his carreer. Do you think before you type?

Honestly, I think The Last Ship is a dull Sting album. He quit having fun years and years ago. His first new album of new material in over 10 years, and it's all fuddy duddy crap. He was too wimply to write a Police album when they got back together which at least would've validated that money grab, but no..more boring old people music. I'm getting old myself, but I continue to write songs that fit in this century.
I may not love every single Prince track, and he sometimes has the opposite problem as Sting, and tries TOO HARD to sound young, but at least he's not sounding old fashioned.
Look Sting, I get it, you want to sound mature, but does every damn album have to be covers of ancient songs, or orginals that sound ancient?
So NO...Please Prince, no broadway show. Of course, I doubt they would want him.
Appearing on Broadway: Prince featuring Shelby in a new Broadway Production:
"PUT YOUR HANDS UP"....with special guest Tony M, rapping about Manure.

I've always felt that Purple Rain would make an amazing Broadway play.
