So, what is Prince's end game

WIth the two listening parties (if that is what you'd call them); hi sobvious disdain for anything relating to an Anniversary release; startiing inon rewcord execs again (first with the "they are always at the beach" comment in Essence now the cant get ahold of anyine at WB). Two new artists he is workign with (the guitar playiong kid is really nice and no complaints about MArissa)..Whats the goal.

we'll know between now and 5 months. either we'll have 3 albums or nothing at all.

i guess we can wait, we've been waiting since "screwdriver" popped up early 2013.

Great thread! I've been thinking the same thing. It feels like he knows this is his last shot to have his comeback and is struggling to put the pieces in place. I mean we all know he's always all over the place with protégés, side bands, getting bored and moving on to his next musical quest.

I listened to all the 2013 singles today and as much as I like number of tracks Groovy Potential, 2Y2D, Breakdown and FunkNRoll they all just lack that knock out punch sound that we all know that he is not only capable of but still has it in him. It simply comes down to P getting P's way...again.

Prince just finally let a well known producer or producers produce your next CD.

Just do it already. The pieces to the masterpiece are all there P just needs to finally take that next step in his musical career or just become the oldies live act he becoming known for. Strange but True

Waiting for someone to bite at his pricetag for any album he wants to release but not promote? Hard to imagine him even having that much of an endgame to be honest.

He hasn't delivered a knock out punch sound in 15 years. Why would you assume he still has it in him...?

End game? He changes his mind every five minutes!

Look up the word "capricious" in the dictionary and you'll see a photo of prince staring back at you sticking his tongue out.

If Warner Bros is smart, they'll be very careful dealing with him. I bet his contract is locked up tight about what he can and can't do based on their previous encounters with him.

WB wants to make money. They have first option on his new releases, meaning they can pass on them if they don't like it or think it'll sell well. I think they are in it solely for the Purple Rain reissue and other back catalog reissues. Prince is one of the few major artists whose back catalog hasn't been exploited in recent years with fancy reissues with extra tracks like Bowie's Rykodisc series. That is probably their main concern hence Mr. P's frustration at them not returning his calls with the quickness.

I'm not sure, but if it doesn't succeed in his mind, it's not going to be pretty. Prince is running out of people to blame.

To collect in advance as much money as possible for his services while delivering the least value he can get away with in return. All those side projects make me uncomfortable. He's in the big leagues again. It will surely go badly... again... if he starts demanding WB pay the costs for a bunch of side projects that they can't possibly sell. King? 3EG? Prince? Marrisa? Austrailian kid? NPG? Liv? Larry? Andy? Remasters? Am I forgetting anybody? Probably.

Over a whole album perhaps not (with the exception of TRC) but with individual songs and recordings he definitely has. Either that or your taste is just restricted to things he's produced earlier in his career.

Change it one more time..
