these lists always start strong, then tracks start to show up that are PURELY someones PERSONAL favorites. NOT really something that an average music fan would relate to, or even prince fans would agree on. (I'll ignore the lists that are clearly sarcasm... Jughead my ass)
It's all a matter of opinion, of course. But when I see "I Don't Trust U Anymore" on one list, I find it hard to take seriously. Perfectly fine song, but how the hell is it a song that EVERY music lover should own??? Not to single out anyone, Im sure there are oddball tracks on each list in this thread. My own list (were I to make one), would likely contain tracks that others would dispute as well.
I can see why people would list When Doves Cry, Kiss, and other iconic prince tracks, plus some other musically inspired or unique sounds. Sacrifice of victor? Get on the boat? Feel U Up? When the lights go down? really??? Every music lover should own these? ??? Nothing standout about any of these. I'd suspect the majority of casual fans would not be impressed. | |
