Prince paid to play guitar brands?

Fender,Vox and other instrument makers did they pay Prince to play their products?

Doubtful. If, for instance, Vox paid Prince to play their guitars, I'm sure part of the deal would be that Vox could advertise that Prince plays their guitar.

If that was not part of the deal, Vox might still be paying Prince but I imagine it wouldn't be very much money. Vox would be depending on guitar players to see Prince either in person or on a TV appearance in order to get their exposure, and that type of deal is hard to assign much of a value, IMO.

Most musicians have sponsorship deals one way or another. Chances are a fair few axes inside Paisley Park were gifted by the manufacturers.
