Purple Rain 2014 live tour Would it be just brilliant if he did, with the Rev and Appolonia 6 and The Time, one last time for the anniversary, straight down live album and all tracks from that era, plus a few reloaded versions.... Come on, imagine it! Remembering Syracuse Live being first broadcast, changed my life!

We already knew that though right?

It would never happen anyway because of the lyrics in some of the tracks

As he said in the press this week he doesn't get we need to celebrate 30 years of something. I know the the re issue is coming but Prince himself will do squat to promote it. He's not feeling it. He claims to not like looking back, except to fill his set with oldies! She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

Among others like Fleetwood Mac and Peter Gabriel celebrating an succesful album from the past, and take it on the road again. Why not PR? I'm 100% sure P will not sell out arena's but full packed stadiums to re-do the PR tour. Of course with The Revolution. Sorry P, but your current line-up is the worst you ever had. But i know it will never happen. By stating for not ''looking back'', is a cheap excuse. Don't forget, it was the album 'Purple Rain', world-wide breakthrough.

Yeah, that is a ridiculously lame and hypocritical thing to say for someone who fills at least about 2/3 of his live shows playing songs from the 80's. He wouldn't be selling tickets without these 80's hit songs and he knows that all too well. No shame in that though, most older artists can only sell tickets playing their old hits, but don't give me that "no looking back" nonsense. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

But he's also contradicting himself all the time. I wouldn't give a flying f**k about what he says. He could see it completely different in the middle of next week.

lol what album are u talking about outside of Darling Nikki (Computer Blue is more instrumental than anything but he's never done that one outside of the Revolution) Prince performs every song from Purple Rain

Would you like him to wear the outfit as well? A Purple Rain reunion tour would be the cringiest most pathetic he has ever done in his career. Whilst his recent output has been rather 'bland', the man really does have too much artistic integrity and pride to do something as ridiculous as that. I got two sides... and they're both friends.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I think he should do a Stonehenge tour complete with a full size monolith and Druids and smoke and stuff

Haha, that would be excellent!!! Get the former Revolution members back and put them in the 1984 ruffled outfits. Make sure to copy the hairdo's too!! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Yes, it would never happen. But all jokes aside..... this tour would bring in MILLION$!! . I would watch the show 10 times if he played 10 times in my homeotwn. . Oh well. His lo$$.

a reunion tour with the Revolution this summer? This would be the biggest, most lucrative tour of the year! It's just another missed opportunity for Prince.

I disagree.I think it would be the most exciting thing he's done in years.

He already is a nostalgia act for 80% of his audiences. (At the bigger arena tours). And that is nothing to beashamed of.

Fully agree. Prince (and some of his fans) might still think he is cutting edge but reality is that he has become a nostalgia act. At the very least since the 2004 Musicology tour. Let's face it, he hasnt had a hit in 20 years and he plays almost exclusively his hits from the eighties. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I agree that an entire tour for this would appear a like just "milking" PR a bit as well as, yes, he has been playing a multitude of these songs live for the past 30 years. However, maybe a one night, advance notice preferably (wishful thinking), show that could be a pay per view or made into a DVD or something that would have the whole Revolution band playing the stuff from that time would be a proper recognition of this time period and pay the album proper due without some kind of full tour,as I agree, he would never do. Hell, he wouldn't even show up for for Shelia and the gang when they did the show totally paying homage to his music. I also do respect his desire/attempt to always look ahead but still, we all recognize the peaks and valleys in our life and usually we are not afraid, and actually enjoy, to celebrating the peaks from time to time.

He's a strange mix of a nostalgia act, niche cult artist and rite of passage for people who love live music. It's a cool mix imho but not without its contradictions [Edited 7/1/14 4:47am]

It would be cool if Prince did a tour where each concert was divided into 3 eras. Combine the 70/80's where he could wear the ruffles and the Edwardian suits as well as some Parade and Lovesexy outfits. Next era could be the 90's and wear outfits from that period and finally the 00's and wear what does now.
Then for an encore, he could have all the band members on stage to have one large jam fest, provided he could work it out to get the old crew together. __________________________________________________
