Tbh Lady Cab Driver without the Vanity (or is it Jill Jones, I forget) section doesn't feel hugely dirty, but still, I take your point, it's a really shame that Prince's intransigence on this particular issue means the fanbase has to miss out on some absolute classics (Erotic City in particular being one of his greatest achievements) and sadly the situation doesn't sound like it's gonna change any time soon. That said, I can understand those who don't particularly want to hear about a 56 year old man "fucking (or funking) until the dawn), but even so I feel like a compromise could be reached without Prince totally turning his back on his past.

I don't miss very many songs, but I know what the biggest missing ingredient is from Prince's live shows, compared to the Purple Rain era is. It's the on stage banter. I miss the stuff he said in between songs during the PR tour. Not all of it, but the riddles. "More ways than 6". He didn't say arrogant things, or act superior. His aim was to please. To be fair, from what I've seen on the 3EG channel, Prince has come a long way in terms of putting that star power back into his shows, by showing humility. Imagine if he brought back some genuine spooky and mystery to the show by limiting what he says to come ons, riddles, prayers and thank yous.

As much as it's a nice thought, and I'd like to think he'd do that, truthfully no. Plus, I think it's safe to say he walks his own path anyway. I don't think he has totally forgotten his past to be honest. I pretty sure he's completely content with the work and actions of his younger self, as he's said in interviews many times. He's talked about how it was it was a different time back then and how he was was young and hungry. When asked if he has any regrets he said no, and that if he'd done things differently he wouldn't be here today. Also, when asked specifically about the 'raunchiness' he said something like 'human's are sexual by nature', and if you've seen him live recently you know that Prince is just as naughty and cheeky as he's always been He tries to convince himself he's changed by not explicitly swearing and omitting certain songs.

"Computer Blue" is PERFECT for 3rd Eye Girl to play, and it's not overtly dirty (not any more so than Bambi, which he still plays), so I don't see any reason why he shouldn't pull it back out.

It'll never happen, but I'd love to hear him play Jack U Off... it's just so much goddamn FUN!
